Team.
Can someone remind please the smallest or most viable size hole for a sprue plate on a .22 cal mould?
I am about to fabricate a pair of replacement plates for my 225415 and 225462 and want to use the smallest hole I can get away with pouring from a ladle with WW tin alloy.

The factory original sprue holes on my 225415 were 0.150" (3.8mm). They were the same as most of the others that I normally see. The smallest sprue holes that I have ever seen were 0.115" (2.9mm). They were on a very old Ohaus that I have. I swapped the sprue plate to a new style Lyman plate with the bigger holes before I used that mould for the first time, so I can't tell you how well the smaller holes would work. I can only tell you that Ohaus did make sprue holes that size at one time.

Jim

.07 , works like a charm with the 415 and 438 with a rowell ladle.

One thing I found out is the hole spacing is different for the Lyman 22 cal moulds, you just can't swap sprue plates indiscriminately.

good luck

Really? I just measured my 225415 & the center to center spacing was about 0.55", the same as a .45, .38 & .30 cal mould that I also just measured. Did they maybe change spacing at some time many years ago? The 4 moulds that I just measured are all Lyman 2-cav that are less than 2 years old.
