Goex black powder

Just got some today.
Guy in the club brings it in for us at cost.
Stores don't carry it anymore.
Shipping cost almost as much as the powder.
$22 a bottle.
How much is it in your parts????

Is that $22 per bottle the shipping or your end cost?

Here in the great state of New York, we common folk are no longer allowed to buy Ye Holy Black. We can possess it, but not buy it. So, an hour south in 'Murica, (Pennsylvania) a pound of Goex is selling around $25 if you buy it by the pound. Buying 10 or 25 pound lots makes it a lot cheaper, more in the $15 per pound range.

It is our end price.
Guy bringing it in is not making anything on it.
He took over from another guy who decided to not do it anymore.
I think it's more than a great price.
Wit the price for the shipping to hawaii, I would think it would be cheaper in the lower 48.
Smokeless prices run $40 to $50 a bottle here.

Best way to order black is by the case lot. Then, the hazmat, etc. are amortized over 25 cans, and it becomes much more bearable.

I'm sure it comes by boat.
The guy who used to do it worked for a company that brought in Haz-mat, so he would piggy-back on their order.
Shipping was way less.
The Haz-mat is not the problem. It's the special handling charge the shippers tack on.
It's all just BS charges.

There's only 2 places I know of in Nashville area that carry BP, Bass pro has it, and this little hole in the wall tack shop in the sticks S a good drive S of Nashville.

I can understand why most dont want to deal with it, alot of regulations due to being considered an explosive. Has to be kept in a safe, over so much you need a second safe. And its not like people are beating down the door to buy it.

Most online places have 25lbs min orders, but I found one that would sell 5, it came out to $21 a lbs I think w the shipping.

I bought some from Bass Pro near Des Moines, IA last year. I think the price was around $25.

Is $25 really that bad? A lbs of smokeless is $25 to $32 where I live, depending on the powder. Yea BP seems easier to make, but isn't, well safely anyways. And smokeless can be shipped easy, chucked on a shelf in a shop. BP has to be stored in back in a dedicated safe. And there is the whole free markets thing, for every lbs of BP sold, theres probably 50 of smokeless sold if not closer to 100. Yea in certain circles muzzle loader guys only use the real stuff. But I cant think of ANYbody with a muzzle loader who buys the real stuff. Pyrodex etc is way easier to get, and usually not something they burn thru alot of.

In this area, we have around 180 active ML shooters. Every one of them use Holy Black, and no substitutes to be found.The clubs buy it by the case for distribution, myself and a few others shoot enough we buy cases on our own. I don't even know if the fake stuff is available in this area.

I've tried different substitute black powders.
Just can't compare to the real thing.
I'm not sure how much he brings in at a time.
I'm sure it the max that can be shipped in one order.

If you can order and ship to your door a 25lb or 50lb case order saves alot on costs and distrbutes shipping and haz mat fees into smaller per pound cost. Some clubs here make an order once or twice a year for certain reloading components. Black powder is a big one here either Go Ex, Olde Ensforde, or Swiss. Depending on the distributor they order from all may be available. Buffalo Arms will give the price break on mixed cases of diffrent granultions and even manufacturer. So 25 lbs of 2F and 3F goex, olde ensford, and swiss isnt that much of any one. This from the stand point that 40-100 grns or more per case depending on cartridge.

That sounds like a good deal for it being in Hawaii, as it has to come by ship or maybe barge.
I know if I order ammo or smokeless powder it has to come by barge, and they are limited as to how many pallets they can carry on a barge. A pallet iirc is limited to 400 pounds, so unless you place a 400 pound order, the shipping makes it pretty much undoable.

Without checking, I would bet a dollar to a busted doughnut hole that they will not ship powder to Hawaii or Alaska.

They are not the same as before.
Very un-friendly towards un in Hawaii.
Used to buy at least $3000 a year from them.
Nothing now. Cut them off.
Same thing with Wideners.
