Yet another mother asked this President... 'Why did my son have to die at Gettysburg ?'

And yet another mother asked this President... 'Why did my son have to die on a frozen field near Valley Forge ?'

Then long, long ago, a mother asked..

'Heavenly Father ... why did my Son have to die on a cross outside of Jerusalem ?'

The answer is always the same... 'So that others may live and dwell in peace, happiness, and freedom.'

This was emailed to me with no author. I thought the magnitude and the simplicity were awesome.

A lot of people have a hard time accepting the simple answer to what they feel is a complex question.

Amen to all the above. God gave us HIS Son. Why should ours be exempt? Or ourselves, or other loved ones? Since the dawn of man, there have been times when people HAD to go and fight enemies, so they could simply live in peace when it was over. The term "sacrifice" never had greater meaning and impact than on those who've lost friends and loved ones, and especially their sons and daughters to war. And wars are usually SO unnecessary, driven usually by greed, hatreds or necessity. War has been a real scourge on mankind since our existence. I think it was meant to keep us humble and reflective, but that seems to be more than we can manage to show towards one another. God be with us and protect us in the times we have ahead of us now.

I have seen this before but forgotten......it's both simple and powerful in depth and profound! I need to find a way to make a plaque or something to put this on the wall of my reloading room.
