Yes you can. Do search here for BP lubes. You can add wax to stiffen it more.

I recently used some stuff that forum member Bardo sent me and i REALLY liked it, its called Gatfeo, the recipe is in the bullet lube section here somewhere, the stuff Bardo sent me was in stick form that he made that way. The thing i liked the most about it was being able to break a chunk of it off and roll it in my hands til it softened up (kinda like playdough) then i rolled it into a long string and wrapped it around the lube grooves, then roll the bullet in my hand til it was perfect. I did this for my dad's .54 Cal Renegade, i pre lubed up several bullets for him the night before we had planned to shoot. I dont personally use any lube, i MUCH MUCH prefer paper patched and sized bullets, no messy lube needed!! But if i were to shoot Maxi Balls i would DEFINATELY go this route

Just a question. Would Verals soft blue lube work if the bore was swapped between every shot?anybody tried it or something simimlar?

Living in the wonderful south, I was doing some ML shooting with the boys this summer. Discovered that the Lube was WAY to soft and messy in 98 degree heat. I mixed up some Bees Wax and Olive oil with a dap of Ballistol . It has worked great as a pan lube.

Yep I live in South Carolina and bore butter turns to water.

Try SPG black powder lube no petro chemicals in it.

Dip lube them 200grams lamb tallow, 200grams paraffin wax and 100grams of beeswax, place a wide mouth jar in a pot of boiling water, adds the ingredients to the jar. This will make a quart of lube it will keep for a couple of years if you place a lid on it.( Do not cool in the refrigerator) When you need to lube those maxis just spoon out a couple of tablespoons into a small can melt in hot water and dip the Boolit into the lube and set it on wax paper to harden.

Crisco mixed with beeswax works in a pinch. I 've used it for C&B shooting the last few years.

SPG works great. Pan lube and cut them out

Here we use Confederate Army Lube, 50-50 by melted liquid volume of Goya Manteca (refined, unsalted lard) and beeswax.

Check out Pat Marlin's luber. Some of the above lubes would work well in his invention.

Another vote SPG. I used it before I went to paper.

dip lube in gato feo #1. easy to make, cheap and works as well or better than SPG. it's viscosity can be tailored by the proportion of its ingredients - mutton tallow (from dixie gun works), paraffin wax (from gulf), filtered beeswax (from da bees!) ... mix by weight in a dry pot set in a pot of water = 1 part tallow, 1 part paraffin, 1/2 part beeswax ... pour out into a milk carton and allow to solidify. for a harder lube = 3/4 part tallow, 1 part paraffin, 3/4 part beeswax. it's really hard to beat gato feo for lubing bpcr bullets, maxie bullets, patch strips for ml ball loading. and it's great for yer skin, to boot. :)

if i use SPG lube how do i get the bullet out of the pan? What do i do to get it out cleanly?

depends on whether yer pan or dip lubing. with pan lubing, ya wait 'til the lube fully hardens then pop out the bullets. with dip lubing, ya do just that - either hold a bullet by its nose and dip in/out of the lube pot, or use a wire platform to lower in/out the bullet, then "cookie cut" off the excess wax with a case or brass tube.

pan lubed bullets take time, dip lubed bullets are almost immediately ready to load.
