So I had been getting a few questions about the Henry Big Boy 41 mag levergun from my girlfriend and was pretty much thinking my birthday/christmas present was going to be one of those.

I've been home sick for a couple of days and yesterday she came in with a box and handed it to me with a merry christmas and happy birthday kiss and said maybe this will make you feel better.

Looking at the end of the box this is what I saw.

The inner box...

And the treat at the center...
http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag17/Tx308/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20161213_1441532_zpsk18qjy7w.jpg (http://s1296.photobucket.com/user/Tx308/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20161213_1441532_zpsk18qjy7w.jpg.html)

I could not believe she had got this for me. It's been almost 20 years since I had to sell mine.
Needless to say that got me out of my sick bed and I got straight to work on cleaning it. She even gave me the phone number of the man she got it from and when I talked to him I found out he had purchased it new around 1987 which matches up with what I found dating the serial number. It hadn't been fired in almost 20 years by the previous owners recollection and had apparently been put away dirty for which he apologized. He is 80 years old and was afraid that if he tore it down now he wouldn't have been steady enough to get it back together without losing something. Its got a few nicks but all things considered it is in awesome condition.

Now all I need is to find my old Hoyt holster for it. In the mean time I will be saving up for a Diamond D Alaska holster.

Couple of better shots after I cleaned it up.

Thank you sir, it took me 3 tries but I finally found a damn good woman. Truly blessed, even before this.

Going to have to get this cylinder off to you after the holidays for reaming. I've got enough bullets to feed it in the meantime but I really want to be able to get great boolit accuracy.

She is an awesome lady. I even have my own desk/workbench in the bedroom for gun cleaning fishing reel repair etc. Heck she even cleaned up half of the junk room so I'd have a place to reload away from the kiddos.

Going to get my mom's diamond out of the safe deposit box this next week. Have actually been planning that for this Christmas. It's a loose 1ct stone, going to let her pick the setting.

Three things on the save up for list are getting the cylinder reamed by DougGuy, a quality holster and a set of Hogue wood grips. The ones it came with are nice indeed but the Hogue finger grooved grips always fit my hand better.
Oh, thought of one more thing. A couple of 5 Star speedloaders.

And thank you for all the compliments on both the gun and the amazing woman who gave it to me.

I always liked the 5½" stainless Redhawks. I had a couple in .44 Mag, just wish I would have bought them in all three calibers back in the day....

So what you're telling me is that I have two more to go before I hit the big time....

Now I'm envious twice over.

Well, as far as going to the jewelry store to thank your fine lady ...... I think the OP has to make that judgement call!

My wife would not be impressed with expensive jewelry if she'd made such a purchase for me. She'd be impressed with her own gun!

It could be ....... just food for thought, but is it possible your lady is thinking of the .41 Henry for herself?

Just a thought

She got her LTC class lined out for after the holidays and chose my XDS 4" 9mm to carry,as far as I'm concerned it is her pistol now.

Other than self/family defense she's not that into shooting. She can handle everything in my small arsenal though, and unsurprisingly is better with some than I am. The support I get for my hobbies most guys would be jealous of.

Time to go give that woman another hug and kiss. I am blessed.

I have had the 7.5" version going on around 25+ yrs now and it is my favorite of the three RH's I have. The 44 was for hunting and had a scope on it for a long time, then I picked up the 45 Colt. Took about a year to get the new worn off that one and I'm back with the 41 again. Just need to find a deal on the 7.5" .357 and I'll have the full set.

Your going to have a ball with yours, oh and Happy Birthday BTW.

Ive got the 7.5" full set. All scoped. The 357 is a beast and weights the most of all them.

I tend to gravitate to my 41 though.

Finally got to shoot today. Just a quick 4 cylinders worth, 210 XTP 4 step ladder run from 17.5-19.0gr of 2400.
The 18.0gr load was pinpoint accurate at roughly 15yds with the sights still set as received. Found a post on a different forum of chronograph results of same bullet/powder combo out of a 7 1/2" Redhawk and for 18.0gr he clocked it at an average of 1308fps so accounting for the barrel length difference I can only estimate I'm getting 1150-1200fps. Sweet load, going to use it as a reference to fine tune around until I can get the cylinder reamed for shooting cast.

I always remembered this as a fine shooting gun but I forgot just how good until that first hammer drop today.
