I actually had an original. The guy who bought it from me paid a whole lot more than that.....

I don't remember them being cheaper than close to 30.00. The springfields were less than 20.00 I ordered what would have been my third springfield and received notice that they were out of springfields, and the carbines were going to be available, probably for the 28 and change price. I could have had one of the first that were released and 30.00 was a lot of money to me back then, and I had no use for a carbine and didn't buy one.
