View Full Version : Choosing 9mm accurate mold

Hi. I'm trying to decide on which accurate 9mm mold to get.
looking for:
125g
no lube groove as I hi-tek coat

glock barrels slug at .355 and .356

i was hoping to get some opinions on the different profiles they have as I can't try the profiles before I buy the mold. It would be a bummer to buy a mold and have it not feed well. Flocks have been fed factory and lots of reloads with berrys plated

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I currently cast 45acp and 44mag with lee molds and I'm looking for a higher quality mold.

Thanks!

Bro if you are sticking with a stock Glock barrel, the shape wont matter very much unless you do something silly like Wadcutter. Glock chambers are looser than Anderson Cooper's butthole and they will eat just about anything. I would go with a RN as they are probably the easiest to feed in a semi auto and you can use it for other 9mm's that you may add to you collection later.

The 358-125 RNFP runs in those that I load for but 3 of 4 will feed an empty case .

Thanks. ill send an email to accurate and see if one of the 4 no lube molds they make is recommended

Lee or similar 358-125 RNFP is the most accurate 9mm boolit I've ever loaded. Shot in semi-autos or revolvers. I know you're asking about Accurate Molds.

Right on 125 Lee is very good.

Curious about Accurate heavy 147gr molds: 35-147D, 35-147H, 35-147X, and 35-147Y groove less molds as well. ChrisP, what did Accurate recommend for you?

35-135S works fine in XD9 & 3 XDS9s. You can get him to leave off the L.G. which will get to 140+. I Hitek them, very accurate for me.

iMigrane, I haven't emailed accurate yet. I'll let you know what they say.

Popper, thanks. I will have to look at that mold

I have an accurate 147gr PC mold, it's slick sided with no lube grooves. It really is an amazing mold, the boolits rain out of it and they function very well in all the 9mm's I've tried it in so far.

Moonie, Which model?

Now you guys have me looking at heavier molds too. Specifically the noe 135 htc no lube groove mold. Definitely interested which accurate 147 mold you are using

My thoughts our the 147gr boolits would be good for metal dueling shooting trees or knocking down small steel plates too. Heaviest molds I have are Lee's using isotope lead with 2%tin. On a dueling tree, they barely moved unless you hit close to center on the steel. I swear, every time I think I know what to get, some other mold looks great too.

It is very nice to have so many options, but it makes it tough to decide. Right now I'm leaning towards the noe htc356-135-fn. I just ordered the noe push through sizer for my 44 and 45. Kind of waiting to see them before I order a mold from them, although I'm heard nothing but good things about their molds.

Just noticed the HTC molds at the bottom of NOE's site three days ago. Those should work for powdercoating too (my preferred coating). Heck, with my alloy they would probably weigh in at 140grs but I would like them bigger than .356 diameter. Easier to size down than up.

Yeah, tough to decide with all these options...

my glock 9 will feed even the lee 105 swc. As will my ruger lc9. My Two m&ps and sig wont though. The lee 125 round flat is a good suggestion for an inexpensive mold. It feeds in all of my 9s.

Another vote for Lee 358125RF in my SW SHIELD

Unfortunately, Lee doesn't make a heavy 9mm bullet. Also, after using a custom boolit mould for the first time compared to my Lee mould, the custom mould is a joy to use and produces far less rejects than my Lee molds.

I think I'm ruined now...
Beside, we our talking about Accurate 9mm heavy mould too.

I'm also specifically looking at profiles without lube grooves as I hi-tell coat.

I have "heavy" Mihec and NOE molds north of 150 grains as solids.
Very nice
But right now my favorite is the Ranch Dog 135 with micro/TL grooves. Got one from NOE and one from Accurate. I agree, 135 is a good compromise between the heavies and the lights. He has dispatched two "man sized" hogs with it. Seems like the wide meplat does its magic with that bullet.

I'm really leaning toward the compromise weigh of 135gr. I'm sure I'll end up with a heavy and lighter mold eventually. Noe htc356-135-fn is at the top of the list right now. Grooveless, drops at .356 (my barrels slug at .355 and I will hitek coat then size), large bearing surface and bullet profile should encourage bullets to jump out of the mold. Will be shot out of glocks, factory barrels so profile should work just fine.

I appreciate everyone's feedback helping me on a wandering journey to my first high quality mold.

I have had my best luck with the 35-135P. It could be ordered without a lube groove and be slightly heavier.

I just got that mould before xmas. Only used it one time but so far so good. My only other mould is a lee so took some getting used to a new mould. I have the hp version and am pretty happy with it. Bullets drop at .356" and 130gr with hp using a 3:1 pure:ww mix.

Well I ended up ordering the noe htc 356-135 fn mold. I hope it shows up this week. Looking forward to a better quality mold then the lee 2 cavity ones I've been using and are not very round.

I was going to suggest a 147 truncated from Accurate as that is what I use and coat with Hi-Tek. At 3.0g Titegroup it is soft and accurate enough for all my Glocks. Might consider one if this one does not suit your purposes. I prefer the heavier bullets for some reason. I never developed a liking for the 135g although I have tried.

I like 147 gr bullets with Hi-Tek coating for 9 mm, I have mostly been shooting 120 gr for 9 mm but starting to move to heaver bullets.

I'm going to start loading 357 Sig and I've found that my 35-147Y has too long a nose to keep the COL within spec in 357 Sig. I will be experimenting with it this weekend with my sons Glock, my 357 Sig barrel for my XD subcompact won't be here for awhile.
