Well I just won a WW Greener Grade F 10 gauge 2 7/8" chamber 30" fluid steel barreled gun . Has the Greener safety on the side that I don't really care for but it has fluid steel supposedly BRIGHT bores ! Barrels appear to need a re rust blueing but that's not an issue to me . Someone added a Pachmayer White Line awhile back . The pics are not mine but rather the sellers GB pictures !

Near as I can ascertain this old gun was made between 1905 and 1915 . Not my oldest and not my newest but I still like it . Well based on what I've seen from these pics , in person may not be as nice but it's been my experience they usually look better in person . Well I really want a Parker EH or NH 10 gauge with factory 28" or shorter barrels . And wasn't looking for a Greener . But what with this thing having fluid steel barrels etc etc as well as me already having a rather nice WW Greener 12 gauge I figured what the heck !

If it gets here quickly I'll take it out and try it on paper with 0000 Buck as well as your .730" slugs . I killed a medium sized doe already this year with my 00000 Buck at about 15 yards . And got one with #2 Buck at about 15 yards .

The last week or last two weekends of the season I usually hunt with some friends doing man drives etc . So if it patterns ok with one size shot or other I'll take it with me there . I honestly don't see why it won't do alright with the large size buck as four of my other 10's did wonderfully when I cut the petals off the SP-10 wad and put a wrap of .003" Mylar .

But I stell want an NH or EH Parker with factory uncut barrels thats 28" or less .

Thanks ! This old gun in the pictures seems to be worth having but I've not had it in hand yet ! My old W&C Scott 10 gauge that was my maternal grandfathers , was made in 1881 . That's been in the family since the 40's so that one will always be held in higher regard by me .

Got the Greener today and it's a bit nicer then the pictures gave it credit although I may eventually go on and reblue the barrels . Only time will tell !

The condition is a bit better then the way it looks in the sellers pictures . But my .730" home cast slugs are goona be a no go in this gun after all . The right barrel with calipers at the muzzle measures .720" and the left measures .715" . In my old Parkers the choke/muzzle aren't quite so tight , so the slug with a .010" mylar wrap worked pretty well . In this gun I'm not going to try it . Gun has a bit more drop then I thought , 1 7/8" at the comb and 3" at the heel . Length of pull is 14 1/8" and the gun weighs 10 pounds and 1 ounce on my postal scales !

As to re blueing the barrels thats up in the air at the moment . And I think I'll make a decision after hunting seasons over . They could use it for sure , but I'm on the fence now that I've seen the gun . Seems rather strange that the rest of the gun is in such good shape and the barrels have a good amount of the blue gone browned etc . It's that way under the forearm as well which leads me to believe perhaps the barrels were put up wett a time or two or something of that sort although the bores are like mirrors .

I still wanna try #1 , #2 and #3 buck in it as well as my #1 Bismuth birdshot loads .
Sorry to say my home cast .730" slugs are a skoosh to large as they sit . I may make another sizer die and try to get them down to maybe .705" or so .
Well now those .730" slugs are to large as cast but the Lyman 525 grain Sabot slugs might work ok inside the SP-10 wad . Think I'll load six of those and see if that's any good !

By no means am I trying to brag but I have four Parkers , an LC Smith , a W&C Scott , an Ithaca NID , this Greener and a MacFarlane muzzle loader all of which are 10 gauge . The Scott and the Ithaca have both been in the family for over 40 years .
