Lead from dentists x-ray blanket.

Has anyone tried recovering the lead from the blanket the x-ray tech drapes over you? I was given a retired one and can get a few more if it is worth the trouble. It feels like it weighs 8 or 10 pounds.

I don't know but it feels as if they're powdered lead. Other than what might be a mess cutting it open if it's straight lead I would think it fine. I have used the old lead backed thingy's they put in your mouth with the old X-ray machines. They worked fine but took a bunch of them to make much.

Get them. However I don't recommend attempting to recover the lead. I got some from my dentist, purchased vinyl repair tape and sold them as repaired. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I sold on Ebay and didn't tell them I was using the funds to support my lead casting, reloading, shooting addictions.
