Congratulations on your buck.
I'm still trying to get a deer with my S&W 629-2 using an RCBS 44-250.
Going out tomorrow to try again.

been trying to hunt after work for the first few days today was my first day to hunt in the morning. I went down to my blind before day light had some deer around me but when the sun come up nothing to be seen I normally wait till it light out had a nice morning sitting there a couple hours in decided to have a snack and that's when he showed up always seems that way holding a pop tart instead of a gun but it worked out. It was about 50 yards or so and only went maybe 40 or 50 yards. I like thank everybody on here this is a great place to be part of helped mea lot with my casting.

Congrats! Better watch out. Handgun hunting is just as addicting as bowhunting.

Congratulations. I wonder how pop tart sales do during deer season. they have fueled several of my hunts.

454 I went back and checked the deer still had all its legs. I know a guy that used a 454 on a deer and it lost a leg as a result good looking pistol buck many more to come we hope.

I've shot three whitetail does with a 44 Super Blackhawk. The first two were with a 240gr cast Keith-style semi wadcutter and a 240gr jacketed bullet. Both had little hole in-little hole out and went a long way before dropping. The last was shot with a 210gr jacketed bullet and dropped in about 25 yards because the exit hole was almost an inch across.

Out of the deer I've shot with hand guns that buck went the furthest I shot a 7 point Friday and he just fell down the hill where he was standing all my hand gun deer have been shot with cast boolets except the first 2 one was with a 30-06 encore pistol and the second with a 460 s&w encore pistol the 460 I used a 240gr xtp and it pretty much destroyed the front half of the deer. I like the cast boolet in the 454 its been getting the job done and not blowing up the deer even the front legs that it went threw weren't bad cut the boolet hole out and use the rest.

Good hunting and good shooting!

Mike you want to have some fun, get a Hardee's sausage biscuit and dope up both sides with grape jelly, wrap it back up and as you are going to your stand just rub the paper on some leaves or tree bark low to the ground where you want bambi to stop and sniff and watch what happens.. I had two biscuits wrapped up in their greasy paper wrapper after I put grape jelly on them, stuck them in my backpack, laid it on the ground as I climbed the tree in my climber, then pulled the backpack up on a rope. I had a 6pt come in and come right to the bottom of the tree, he sniffed and he sniffed and he sniffed around the base of the tree, he walked a circle around the tree, he came back and he sniffed some more, he walked another circle and he sniffed some more, and finally I leaned over and popped him with the SBH and he was DRT where he stood but he was NOT going to give up on the smell of grape jelly!

Now that sounds like something to try you wont find that one in the hunting mags. I had a doe once start by my stand there was snow on the ground she follow every one of my foot print rite too the ladder on my stand never seen one do that be for let her walk out a little way that's the one I shot with the 460 I probly wouldn't of much left if I shot her under the stand still have to make up some cast loads for that one.

DougGuy I dip earthworms in grape jelly for catfish. Now I'll use it for deer bait! Best, Thomas.
