I gave a non-caster friend 50 bullets I cast from my Saeco single-cavity 300-grain 454 (#058, 454 SWC-GC) mold - lubed with LBT Blue, bottomed with Hornady 45-caliber gas checks. He likes them and asked me to make several hundred for him. I told him I would not undertake such a large job and suggested he make his own. He emphasized he didn't want to cast bullets.
He did an Internet search and identified Matt's Bullets, somewhere in Missouri, as selling this bullet at reasonable cost. I looked online and made an email query. There are many differences in his 300-grain 454 (#058, 454 SWC-GC): different lead mix heat treated for hardness; different lubricant that is somewhat harder than LBT Blue [non-commercial]; Gator checks.
1. Those who have used Matt's Bullets products please describe their quality.
2. As a "rule," how significant should my friend the production differences to be?
