I am very blessed! Four years ago I shot a really nice big buck, and I got a cute picture of my baby (at the time) in camo with the buck. Now my littlest one fits that camo outfit, and my eldest (who wore that outfit 4 years ago) also joined us for the picture.

9 points. Maybe 200ish lbs on the hoof. Tough shot at 120 yards. I was standing in a portable stand some 16 ft off the ground. I wish I could say it was a bang flop. Marksmanship could have been better. The buck needed a finisher (through the ribs) at close range. It was the last day of the rifle season. Just in time! Rifle is the Rossi 92 16" 357 with group buy MP 358-180 (similar to the NOE 360-180).181286181287

Very nice but the kids steal the show!! You are the second to post a deer kill with a Rossi 357 in as many weeks and some say its not a deer gun!

Congratulations on the deer and two fine youngsters.
Hope they grow up to join you on many a hunt.

Looks like I am going to have to try again to get the 180s to shoot.

Is that 180 like the Ranch Dog or LAR45 180?

What did ya pack behind it to launch it?

I shot the NOE 180gr WFN.

They are great in mine...13grs of 2400...but, they shoot great with most any powder that I have tried.

Thanks for enjoying this with me, and I agree the kids steal the show.

Ain't no flies on the 357 (on the rifle platform, anyway), and I look forward to bagging more deer with it in the future. One thing I will be experimenting with, however, is adding a scout scope. I have a Leupold 2.5 power on order due to feeling the need to see better in less than great light, and also when there is brushy conditions surrounding the deer.

It's just tough with my eyes, anyway, when it comes to the peep sights I have been using. I have been practicing on steel out to 250 yards (with confidence and success), but throw a live animal in the mix in the brush and/or less than ideal light; and it's just tough. Sigh...

Lar45 180 GB. Love this boolit! I had to modify the rifle slightly to make everything run smooth, but it was well worth it. 16 grains Lilgun and 1800 fps. I have noticed that at 300 yards sometimes this bullet starts to tip/yaw, but at 250 everything seems to be still straight and true. Accuracy is excellent!

I have the 20" Octagon.

I have a bunch of those boolits and a pound of Lil Gun so will test some tomorrow.

I am assuming you had feeding/chambering issues with that boolit.

I have found a Max COAL that stops smooth feeding in an instant so may have to work around that a bit!

I crimp that bullet in the crimp groove. To get there, I had to use the dremel and put a slight feed ramp on the bottom side just like junior did on his "how to" on his website. I also had to file the cartridge guides a bit. That was all, if I remember correctly.

How do these bullets differ from the NOE 360-180, like I use. I have never had an issue with my rifle feeding these bullets, seated to the crimp groove.

This is the NOE...along with the CVA Scout.

Not sure of the exact difference. Maybe a wider meplat. The Lar45 bullet has a .28 meplat. I'll see if I can take a pic or two.

Here's the Lar45 bullet. It has a .28 meplat and .31 nose to crimp. I don't know how this differs from the NOE version.

What is you COAL.

I have both molds since I had hoped RD changed the nose design slightly.
I am guessing what Junior may well have posted, but will go look at his sight to be sure.

Metal removal should be minimal to get the clearance needed.

I'll have to report back later on COAL, as I've got that stuff in an out building at the moment.
