I was able to take a doe with my mini 30 yesterday. I've taken game with cast in my handguns and straight wall rifle calibers since the early 80s but this 7.62x39 is the first bottle neck cartridge I've used with boolits. I shoot the Lee 312-155, powder coated over 22.7 grains of R7 and it runs a little over 1900 FPS in the mini's 16" barrel. The shot was 102 yards and she piled up after a 50 yard stumbling run. I only got 1 lung but it did the job. The boolit weighs 162 grains with my COWW/lead alloy. I was pretty happy with the results.

Myhunting partner and best friend is fanatic about his mini 30, his results have been same as yours they hunch up run 30 to 50 yards and fall over dead, I've seen it or else I wouldn't believe it they tel me you need some over bore magnum death ray to down the armor plated white tail deer

Great job! Good meat deer there.

I have a Mini Mauser in 7.62x39 I need to get busy with developing a deer load for.

It'll do an 1 1/4 for 3 shots at 100 if I do my part. I had to go with a scope cause I just can't see anymore

My notes on the mix are downstairs in the basement but I'm running about 13 to 14 BH according to my Lee hardness tester. I tried some around 10 BH but the weren't as accurate in my mini.

I figured I'd find this one in the deer as far as the shot was but it was a pass through. It did seem expand according to the exit hole. I've recovered some from dirt behind my target and the PC and GC stayed on them. I'll try to find one a take a picture
