181177Don came and we got in. I shot a spike with the .475 first and heard him shoot His SBH Hunter. He also got a spike.
I was worried about seeing deer because I seen a yote run by this morning, first ever here. I did not get the dot bright enough and could not find it. Mad scramble and the yote was gone before I got it turned. It was MOVING. Very strong winds. Branches and trees falling. Got a few pictures.
Don's picture will not come up.

Always good to see fresh meat on its way to someone's freezer.

The opener in Wisconsin was greeted with winds approaching 55 MPH gusts trees snapping off a huge one hit the dog kennel must have mortified the dog. Many hunters headed out of the woods its was dangerous place but crazy enough many nice bucks were harvested.

Good ld eating there nice thick steaks quick seat each side and you got some of the best eating known to man....

I don't look that old in the mirror. Bets are on for who makes the most fun of my hat.
We seen nothing this morning but squirrels and a pile of turkeys. Lots of shots heard all around.

Your buck looks bigger than the buck I got last week - 87 lbs :-) ... yours probably dressed out more than that. But I'm in SW Florida, and it was my first one after trying for 6 or 7 years.

By the way... I was wondering what that strap is that you are holding onto in the pic?

I have sling swivels on the butts of all my revolvers so I don't drop a gun if I snooze in the stand. It also lets you push against it to help steady.

I drill and tap the butt to screw in the stud with a spacer for the Pachmeyer grip, then cut the grips to go around the spacer.181381
It is great when walking too, the gun hangs at the hand. Best sling is the 6' utility sling Midsouth sells.

Before I found a shoulder holster for the monster BFR 45-70 I had a stud up on the barrel with one of those for a lever gun that wraps the barrel. I could then sling the gun behind my back to drag deer.

I can't imagine hanging on to a 45-70 revolver. I prefer a gun with some recoil, and my .44 SBH gives me just enough!

The big 45-70 BFR has less recoil then a .44 but it is huge and heavy. I had a time finding a holster.

I shot a little spike with spikes that size several years ago, with a vintage 1925 30.-30 25" octagon barrel, shooting a RCBS 180 gc boolit. I proudly hung those antlers over my garage door, and every time my wife walked past those antlers she would bust out in histerical laughing. She wasn't thinking that it had been about 10 years since I shot my last deer though.

Outstanding!! I have sling studs on my Freedom Arms .454. The best way to stabilize in hasty situations and handy for hauling out a fat deer.
