I bought a 458 Winchester barrel ( for a Savage Rifle ), brass , ammo and dies

So I have been starting to load some well reduced loads

Well today was in the 70's , Saturday is going to be mid 30's

No monster migraine , so I took 4 new loads to the range to test

I had shot the 4 loads and looking at the targets
When a ground hog wandered out from behind the 100 yard backstop and in front of the 200 yard backstop .... about 125 yards out

I still had some of the 405 gr cast load with Unique , going about 1400 fps in my box

So I loaded one and aimed just below the top of the back

No great mess , just a 45 cal hole in and out
But still the rifle had taken the first game

LOL I know the load was a bit ... a lot of overkill , but IMO shoot what you have in your hands

Quick thinking and reaction! Thank God you got him, he was probably flanking you for the kill! I wouldn't have felt safe unless I had a 50 BMG!

Nice shooting! I thought 45LC was overkill on a woodchuck. lol
