I picked up an old Ideal 311299 in the swap section last week.
It was NIB still in cosmoline I'm betting from sometime in the 50's judging
by the stuff I got from my dad.
Degeased and lubed it and turned the pro melt to 700.
Preheated the mould and started.
I had 1 = ONE cull - the first pour
Emptied the pot and everyone just fell out the whole pot worth.
Let the sprue haze with about a 3 count after.
Came out at .3115 and weighing a bunch looks like .2 gr variation
They are beautiful.
It's only a single cav but boy I love this one.
I have some other nice moulds (50ish) but none run as easy and nice as this has.
I have a couple from Tom that are close but this ones personality is on top.
Just had to share as pumped as I am:bigsmyl2:

You're sharing it with folks that can understand AND appreciate what happened on the first production run with that mould my friend......magic.

We're reloaders and handloaders because of many different reasons. We search high and low for a "new personal best" on every aspect of the process. We're different.

Some folks think we're stupid for not just going by WallyWorld and "buy a box of bullets".

Great job my friend, and congrats on a great find.

Now I am kicking myself. I saw that listing and thought about it, but I already have a Lyman in two cav.
Now I wish I had taken it.

It truly is a wonderful mold.
It casts so nice that if it doesn't fly in my .30's I'll buy new rifles til I find one it will.
Got a bunch sized and lubed up to try in the 06 this weekend.
I'm sniffing for a nice A303 to play with this in - but pickings are slim or a little to high.
I was holding out for a 311284 but I like old stuff and thought what the heck.
If I have to have my buds at rock creek make me a bbl for it I will but this one stays til I'm gone.

Fernando, a mould like that Ideal 311299 is truly a thing of joy! Priceless too.

Good on you ! I found two like that last winter at a little flea market both SC ideal/Lyman one was an earlier non vent face and both dropped perfect bullets in the proper dimensions and just fell from the mould when you opened the handles . Wish Lyman would choose to make a quality mould again .

They probably got rid of all the belt driven machines and the guy who knew what he was doing is in the hereafter.
