Anealing brass in led pot?

Some old school annealed cases by submerging neck partially in lead alloy melt, anyone using this method now?

That's how I do it for my M1 brass. With a PID controlling the pot, it's pretty simple.

Lead pot works just fine but if you have one of the tiny little 4# pots, fill it with play sand and you won't have to worry about tinning your brass or splashing yourself.

I have a lyman 10lb big dipper pot I made a simple stand /rack to fit inside it Base plate is domed center plate is a stop plate for the case mouths and the top plate has 1/2" holes around edge for cases. A long 1/4" pan head screw and nuts holt them in location. It is filled with heavy silica sand used for making glass. I heat this up to 750* for 2 hours or so and start inserting cases at 12:00 hole working around it. WHen i get to one empty hole I pull a case and insert another working thru the sequence till all the cases have been done. This gives a consistant heat level and soak time for the cases. I dont see alot of color change but with this ther isnt any oxidation either.

I do it, leave the primer in or you will have trouble getting the lead out of the inside. If some sticks to the outside it comes off when I SS pin tumble.

If you put a live primer in, they pop right out of the lead when they are ready, kinda like that turkey thing that is suppose to tell you when it is done.

(only in jest, and yes I know you mean fired primer, I just could not help myself)
