Got this fine whitetail this am with my Marlin in 35 Remington. I'm a fan of RCBS's 35-200 gr FP; use it in a Savage .358 Winchester, a Remington 700 Classic in .35 Whelen as well as the aforementioned Marlin 336. I cast from straight wheel weights, air quenched, then size to 0.360". Lube is White Label's 50-50 and I seat a Hornady GC as well. SR4759 is the powder, and I load for 1600 fps. The gun will easily do an inch and a quarter at 100 yds with a vintage Weaver 3x mounted.

Bullet performance has always been excellent, and this time was no exception...I got through and through penetration at 50 yds with one inch entry and exit holes. The shot was placed just behind the shoulder, tore through both lungs and exited; both holes showed that it had punched through ribs on both sides. This deer ran about 100 yds before collapsing with an excellent blood trail.

I do have some of the same RCBS bullets cast from 50-50 Pb/Wheel Weights that I'll load up for the rest of the season, for some add'l expansion as I'd like to get a doe as well that should fill out our venison needs for the year.

Best Regards, and good luck in the on-going deer seasons. (Gun in pic is my 1894 in .357, grabbed by mistake when we returned to begin field dressing and get some pics).

Congrats on a nice buck!
The load you used sounds real interesting. I have the same mold and will start using it after we go through the leverevolutions that we have for the 35 Rem. I would be interested in hearing what loads you use with the Rcbs 35-200 for the 35 whelen and what alloy. I re-barreled my Savage 116 30-06 to 35 whelen and I am about to start working up some loads for it.

Son and I hunt as a team. He shot 2 last sunday AM. Being my State allows one deer per license. My hunting came to a end with the sons good fortune. (Big bodied spike and a medium size doe.) Both harvested with a single 270 shot to each.
But this write isn't about me. Its about you and your success Rodfac. Congratulations are due for the nice 8-point laying in the grass. Some good eating there for sure. But a nice doe too boot would end your season as a remembered> Jim Dandy.;-)

I like that bullet, I have the NOE clone of it. I've only killed one deer with it yet. Works real well with 40 grains of IMR 4320 in my Savage 99 in .358.

Congrats on that nice buck.

Congrats on a really nice buck and i hope you get a doe to go with it.

I cast about 150 of the noe clone of that same boolit today for the 35 whelen.
It's a great all around for the 35's for sure.

My congratulations on that buck too!

I also like the RCBS 200 grain boolit. I've used it in the 358 Winchester and I currently use it in the 35 Whelen. Just a super design.

I am fixin' to try mine this year in the Super 16 Contender. That bullet looks great and your game report cinches it for me. The Lee C358-200-RF bullet is similar and what I load. Velocity is 1960 out of the 16" tube with AA2520.

Great looking deer!

Nice Buck and I also like that boolit design - which RCBS, NOE or LEE are all excellent versions of.

Hey Rod, good job there. You ever try that boolit in your 1894? I'm thinking about buying the Lee version for mine. Seen more than a few deer so far here in Mercer County but none big enough to invite for dinner yet!

I have that mold on it's way to me. I'm going to use it in my JES/Rem700 .358 Win. I'm more excited now! Way to go Rodfac! Best, Thomas.

Good Job! I'm fond of the RD 359-190 but curious enough about the RCBS 35-200 to order a NOE clone of it. A .36 boolit with a big meplat has put a fair bit of meat in my freezer, glad to see it put some in yours as well.

First off, Nice deer and story.
I started using this boolit too in my .35 Marlin 336. Shot my first deer with it last week and it performed perfectly, dropping him in his tracks. Story is in the hunting link. It was a thu and thru neck shot and left a 3/4"-1" hole thru his neck so I didn't get to recover the boolit. My load is WW with about 20% pure air cooled , then sized .360 and lubed with Bens Red in a Lyman 45 sizer. This pic is my regular load over 35.0 gr IMR3031 and CCI200 primer in full length brass. I used the same load but in 1.795" trimmed brass to shoot my deer. I only keep five rounds trimmed for hunting so as not to waste my brass. Hopefully some day the regs will change and we won't have to trim below the 1.8" max length.

I no longer have the RCBS mold but bought a Lee 358-200 and it is pretty close copy, it is shorter and just a little lighter at 201 gr compared to 211 for the RCBS.
I have some load work to do over the winter with the Lee. It was dropping a little small at .359 but I have since "Beagled" my mold and it now drops at .361, just haven't had time to load up any as deer season got here quick and I ran out of time.

Wow Randy, that is one sharp looking Marlin. I absolutely love the gray laminate wood, where did you get it?

I bought the stock set from Boyd's and had the metal cerakoted in tungsten.
It is a 1955 model RC that I redid

Good job. I used water quenched bullets in my 30-30 and they were about the best bullets I ever tried. A little trick is to take your hunting bullets and place them in a pan of water just covering the base and use a torch to anneal the noses. Some might run a bit or droop but just recast them. I would sight in with in annealed bullets. Hit a nice deer with one at 140 paces from my tree. Blew about a 2 inch hole in the off side, blood spray from hot very obvious, and the deer went down such that I had to roll it off its knew to gut it. Those bullets performed like a Nosler is supposed to. Only annealed a few bullets as needed.
Yours worked but the new blend you are using can be hardened by water dropping and expand beautifully when annealed. I was able to drive mine at about 2000 fps with gas check. They were heavy for a 30-30 at 188 grains final weight.

How do they shoot in a 357 mag? I've got a 180 sil mold but like the look of that Lee mold.
