Can we start a thread of recovered boolits from game ?

It would be neat seeing what that little piece of lead did when it left the muzzle And hit the pumping plant.

Yes, maybe a few hp photos as they are more likely to be caught by the "pumping plant".

Do not have the load data handy right now but muzzle velocity is around 1700 fps. He was trotting toward me about 20 yards away when he looked up and said OH S*%^! Too late.

Wish I could see one I shot! Mine went clean through the deer from one end to the other, 405 JESS 300 gr GC @1800 plus fps! It was an unethical shot though I've heard!

Gamsek...pretty impressive, looks like many of the HP's shed their front ends instead of mushrooming.
Can you share BHN's/FPS on any particular rounds...that'll give everyone a little more to chew on. Also, how thick of a stack of wet paper did you have to use?

Good pic's too!

All HP (various HP MIHec molds), are made with ww/pure+2%tin at 1800-1900fps, shot into few days soaked soft paper at 15y.
Blue that mushroomed nicely was 80%pure+ww at subsonic speed.

Orange with GC 311140 was linotype, penterated all 60centimeters, I found only one.

I test the HP's by shooting down a 10' x 4" PVC pipe with 2 layers of bath towel secured to the front end with a radiator clamp...still get a weelittle moist but it blocks most of it.
You get all the pieces back when they fragmentate and can see their size too. Some 5 & 7.4 BHN I've been messing with lately tends to flow back over the body and frag into larger pieces when they come apart. My harder stuff frags into small pieces. It's been very interesting.

I enjoy posts like yours.

Sorry for the upside down pic's, I tried to delete them but to no avail.

OS OK, I found that wet soft paper (phone books) is a bit harder then real stuff (game) and water is a bit gentler. Still both are good materials to use for testing. Snow is also interesting, those were found in spring180941http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161118/2ad225edb642abbc2d9e842192c25b80.jpg

The bullet on the right was recovered from a Cape Buffalo bull. The rifle was my Cogswell & Harrison 577 BPE. The bullet was cast from Linotype and weighed 525 grains, it was propelled by 64 grains of H-4198 at about 1800 fps. The shot was taken at 20 yards to the front of the chest. The bull ran 30 yards and was down but not yet dead. I put two more in the shoulder to finish him. The bullet was recovered in the paunch and weighs 516.4 grains. The bullet on the left is what it looked like prior to being loaded. The bullet in the center is a 165 grain 30 caliber. The second picture is of the bulls heart showing the damage done by the frontal shot.180995180996
