I am going to look at an Arisaka Monday, and a little info might help. All I know is that it is likely a 6.5, and it is supposed to be in great condition. They are asking $125, but will probably take $100. I have searched previous posts, and found a discussion about headspace problems. Also gleaned that the 7.7 round may be easier to load for. I see that Graf's has Privi brass. I also found an article about forming cases from .35Rem brass. Basicly you run the case through a .308Win sizer, and then through the 6.5 sizer. I wonder how this would work since the 6.5 Arisaka is a semi rimmed case? Anyways, I am just looking for a fun shooter, and another caliber to load for. Any info or suggestions would be appreciated....
EDIT:
Well my buddy that told me about this rifle did not have a clue. I just called the shop and, OMG, it is an origonal Mannlicher with rotary magazine!!!!!! I need to get there before it gets gone. This is a rural gunshop. I think they don't know what they have!

If the mum is unground you can always make your money back if it is truly in great shape.

For whatever reason every 6.5 I have seen has a chamber that is eccentric (not screwball eccentric, outaround eccentric).

Apparently the barrel IDs vary considerably on the 7.7s, mine is tight enough I use .308 bullets and have not tried it with boolits.

I would go and buy it. I have a Spanish FR8 with Bayonet in my collection and it shoots very well. I shoot cast bullets through it and no problems. It's cheap to shoot and is a good varmint rifle for close range.

At that price get it.I have 4 of them 2 in 6.5X50 mm and 2 in 7.7X58 mm.The 35 Rem cases might work for the 6.5,for the 7.7 the .30-06 cases work great but needs to be trimmed to the proper 7.7 length.Used miltary '06 cases after decrimping primer pockets.Ran the cases threw the 7.7 resize die and so far no problems
