Thanks to all. Please don't forget to express the same greetings to our Corpsmen and Chaplains who serve the Corps also.

This is one of those days where my personal mailbox keeps increasing in size as Marines from all over the world exchange greetings, and friends of the Corps and friends of Marines send greeting back and forth. And of course; I can't resist the urge to do the same.

Thank God for a country where it's citizens express appreciation and Love for it's Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, and Coast Guardsmen. Most of the world fears their military and often despise it.

I was a swabby too, but Dad was an old 3-war Marine (China - 7 yrs, WWII and most of Korea) and a finer Dad a man could never find. You Marines get a particular type of training that nobody else really gets, even though all of it can be really good. Your esprit de corps is the pinnacle of what a fighting unit's should be, and deservedly so. So if you jarheads can forgive an old swabby, please let me channel a heartfelt "Semper Fi" from my Dad, through me, to all of you. I will always love and honor the Marines for what it instilled in my Dad, and what he tried so hard to instill in me. Thank you all. You're truly an elite group, and it's your attitude and spirit that makes you so. I salute you electronically. Thanks. You guys matter more than you know.

Greetings and warm sentiments to you and yours. May the Good Lord shield and protect you as He doth prepare the path before us all.

I usually have a single drink on this day, got out of the Marines in 1967. Some friends came home covered with a flag, the draft was in force and we either went into the military, Canada or jail. Looking back now I think I made the right choice.

My Father served in Korea in 1952 as a 17 year old Combat Marine. I served from 89-98 in the Corps as an Infantry Rifleman and then Combat-Cameraman (Grunt with a Kodak...) before being Commissioned into the Army Ordnance Corps for the rest of my career.
Wife surprised me with this photo from my Boot Camp packet today on Facebook

Semper Fi Bruce. I remember being disappointed when we got the Boot Camp pictures in "Dress Blues", to only discover they had no backs and were taken in a fast "Assembly Line" production. Gotta love the Corps and it's ability to make a nickel go as far as possible.

Ahhh, Boot Camp...I remember on graduation day when the ******* DI addressed us as Marines instead of his usual degrading names...well, I almost lost it.

Yep, it's our 241st birthday! I enlisted in 1968 with a great bunch of guys. Some of them will remain forever young in my memories...
