Just looking to BS with anyone who shoots these oddballs other than myself. Mine are all Winchester low walls, what are you shooting? Just like to swap data and such. I will post pictures if I get some replies.

I have been playing with the 219 zipper in the contender carbine for a few months now. I don't buy brass but choose to convert 30/30 range brass. You have my utmost respect if you are shooting either of these with cast. It has to be one of the true "labors of love". No sane person would do this and yet we still do. I currently have only one 22 mold. It is the rcbs 55 gr sp. It shoots well in both the zipper and k hornet. Weighing each bullet and segregating is a must but worth the trouble. The k hornet loves 4227 for cast and 680 for jacketed. The 219 likes 3031 for cast and 4320 for jacketed. both cast bullet loads will shoot just into 1 inch if I do my part.

I have a 22 Savage Hi Power on layaway, sort of a fat Zipper. This should be a true labor of love since even the legendary Ken Waters had problems with this one! Should it prove completely unfriendly I'm considering a Zipper barrel. Something about the name intrigues me. Wish I could find one of the Marlin lever guns made in the Zipper!

built on a Remington Rolling Block. I bought the gun back about 74, it loved Hornady IMR 4320 and 50 gr. SXs. I take it out and plink and play every few years, but I have little use for it here. NO, THAT DOES NOT MEAN IT MIGHT BE FOR SALE!! just in case anyone might be wondering

I have been playing with real Boolits here lately and trying to get the 225415 to shoot.

The gun was part of a "collection" of guns built and shot (turkey shoots in NE NM) by a crusty grumpy old fart riflesmith (wait, is that being redundant).

I also have a C.C. Johnson Borchardt. It was made by him as an R-2 Lovell, but somebody rechambered it to a cartridge midway in length between a .219 Wasp and a .219 Zipper. It has about the same capacity as a .222 Remington Magnum. I've never tried cast boolits in it; something I ought to get around to one of these days. Too many Hornets and other small centerfire .22s to get sorted out first.

458,
I love the old Single Shots. Yes, I shoot the Wasp. Actually, I have two. Both are set trigger High Walls. One has a PO Ackley barrel. The other has a Hart. Also fool with a Low Wall in .218 Mashburn. Another great cartridge.

In fact I just took it out to the range today. You should have seen the puzzled looks when I told them what the lever gun was chambered in. So far 4064 and Benchmark have been turning in the best accuracy, and yes lever guns can shoot sub-MOA. :drinks: I'm going to try some 22 caliber Lee "Bator" bullets on my next trip to the range. Any load suggestions?

Other odd-balls in my collection include a 17 Ackley Bee, a 218 Mashburn Bee, and a 256 Maximum. Just wish I had time to shoot them all.

John

Sweet! A 336 in 219 Zipper always appealed to me as a woods walking coyote gun.

I have a 22/30-30 improved that I made up years ago.Shoots well but is hard on brass because of the stretch of the action that is a Martini Enfield.

Saw a 336 that had a 219 zipper barrel and forestock and a receiver with a cross bolt safety. The guy wanted $1200.00 for it. I passed and that is as close as I have ever gotten to one. Wish I could find a real one.

If the SN doesn't start with a U or lower, it would be a 219 built from parts. Hopefully the person selling the rifle with a safety admited to what it was.

I was kicking tires for about three years before I finally found the rifle I decided to buy.
