I have ordered a Mountain Mold in 357. How do I do to install gas checks with it?

Thanks,

Crabo

How do you correct your spelling in your heading?

With the Star sizer, I just press the gas check on the base, insert it nose down into the die, then give the check a light tap with the punch and then push it on through. That light tap seats the check squarely.

I have been using the same seating punch for 38-44-45 calibers. Do I need a specific punch for the difference calibers?

Thanks,

Crabo

i try to use one close to boolit size but it didn't really seem to matter if there was a little dish in the check as this was caused by the next boolit.
as long as the checks are on square i havn't seen much difference.

I made a tool out of a small pair of vise grips to seat checks on the bullet. I ground off all the serations on the jaw of the vice grips so its smooth and sit in the living room with it and seat all my gas checks before i go out to the barn to size. Most of the time though it can be done with finger pressure or by pushing the check up against the bench.
