Going to look at one this weekend.
It's a 44/40 deluxe takedown, built about 2008. Never been fired, but no box or paper work. Don't know much about the new '92. Anyone know what to watch out for?

As with any other rifle look for marks (on unused there shouldn't be many if any)
and if assembled it should all be tight (no movement detected between front and rear portions)

Miroku makes a great clone (safeties aside). I'm very pleased with both my 1892 as well as my 1895.

Hawkcreek,
Have you had any problems with the rebounding hammer on your '92? I see were people are doing away with them. Is it a possible problem?

I have one in 38-40. Never have taken it down. It is accurate. However, with the safety stuff they added, it is very notchy and rough to cycle. I have cycled it hundreds of times to try to smooth it without success. I have thought of having it reworked by a gunsmith, but have not run across someone who has prior experience in "slicking it up". I think it would be first rate if it could be made smooth.

I have a current production 92 Browning/Winchester/Miroku in 45 Colt, love the rifle, zero issues with the rebounding hammer.Shoots and cycles as it should I had considered defeating the rebound hammer only for cosmetic reasons, the tang safety has not bothered me as I barely know it's there and have never used it.I will be getting another in 44-40.

Bought it on Sat. I think the fit, finish is fantastic. Shot 50 rounds of my '73 loads through her. 8grs of unique shot good. Not much of a group at 100yrds, but OK. Loaded 50 with 10grs unique. Lyman says 10.5 so I figured I'd be OK. Shot great. 5 shot groups at 100yrds were 5in. tall by 2in. wide.
Action was a little stiff but has really smoothed up. Cleaned it and got a couple flakes of lead on a patch. I think I'll keep her.

I would suggest that you contact Steve Young about slicking up your Model 92: www.stevesgunz.com

I have a Davidson run of a 92 Trapper in 45 Colt TD. I changed out the ejector spring relieved the extractor abit to help it slide over the cartridge rim removed the one leg on the hammer strut deleting the rebonding hammer and polished the factory hammer and sear engagement surfaces and was able to cut 3 or four full coils off the mainspring. I also lightened the trigger reurn spring a tad and it cycles smooth.
