Hello all. I have a .308 1:10 barrel blank that I would like to use to make a single shot 30-30 to be used with black and cast. Does any one have any experience with such a fast twist in the 30-30? I have several 30 cal. Molds from 95 gr to 200 gr. Any and all advice is appreciated, Thanks

My only 30-30 so far is a Win 94 1-12" twist. I am barreling a 93 Mauser with a 1-10" twist so we'll figure it out around the same time. Best, Thomas.

I did a Rossi single shot w a 1-8 twist, one made for a 300AAc, but I chambered it in 30-30, as I already have everything to load it with. It will shoot the NOE 230gr subsonic, and 225gr match subsonic.

I shoot the same cast bullets in both my 30-30 and my M1 Garand. IIRC the M1 has a 1 in 10 twist. In the extreme I have fired 215 grain gas-checked and lubed up to 2500 fps in my M1 without leading (50 rounds). I also fire 170 grain GC and tumble lubed without leading in the M1. So-- I'd be surprised if you have any problem.

Marlin 336's have 1: 10 twist.

The 30-30 was designed to shoot smokeless powder and be reloaded with smokeless and has a 1 in 12 twist. The 32 special came out about the same time with a 1 in 16 twist, using factory smokeless loads but was designed so it could be reloaded with black powder. The 1 in 10 twist should not be a problem with the 30-30.
