I took my Swiss M78 out for some range time. It has been an excellent shooting rifle. I have a lot of CCI Large Pistol Magnum primers so I gave them a try. I tried them with and without Dacron filler and there was no appreciable difference. Loads are 18 grains of 2400, Lee 310 (actually weigh about 295), sized .427, without gas checks, and lubed with Liquid Alox. Cases are .348 trimmed to 1.65 OAL 2.2.
I also tried a home made target with a horizontal and vertical line. I like this target for iron sights at 50 yards and think I will have a print shop make me up a bunch of them.

I also shoot the swiss centerfire. . I prefer using 8mm Lebel Brass. works well . I have settled in with a load 25gn of SR4759. . this is my same load as my Italian 10.4x47R. . I have been using a fully Plated 240 GN. 44 cal .428.
With the flat point feed good @ 2.2 OAL

I made all of my brass out of .348, I did sacrifice a couple 8MM Lebel cases as well just to see how they worked. If I had it to do over again I would start with 8mm brass. First .348 is now out of production and I should have saved it for other projects, and secondly I think it was easier to form from 8MM brass. I use 2400 in most all of my cast bullet loads and it works well, but the main reason I use it is I have what will probably be a lifetime supply of it. When I first got the rifle I had some 250 grain Keith bullets I had won at a cowboy shoot years ago, I sized them down to .427 and they shot excellent as well. I have a couple molds for 44-40 in 205 and 210 grains and think they would be a little on the light side. I bought the Lee mold because the price is right, they seem to work just fine without gas checks.

The Vetterli's really are an amazing piece of craftsmanship, they are a bit of a pain to get ammo up and going but well worth it in the end.
