Quick question for the group.
I've got a line on a bunch of lead, guy says about 1/2 of a 55 gal drum.
Anyone care to guess what that's going to weigh?
Wondering if my truck will haul it....
Thanks in advance!

Thought you guys might like an update on this...and a good laugh. Guy said half a 55 gal drum, I'm in heaven. Then, it turned out that some of the 'haul' was not suitable for use-lead impregnated vinyl material.
Then he downsized, maybe 2-3 5 gal buckets, I thought, well, that's still good.
Yesterday I called to confirm that I needed to drive my big truck, as opposed to a smaller vehicle. He said, "Oh yeah, drive the truck"
Cool.
I got there:roll::(:evil:(drum roll)
A grand total of about 20# of usable lead!
LOL
Can't win 'em all.

Well, a 5 gallon bucket weights approximately (my guess) 150 lbs, 1.2 of a 55 gallon drum is 27.5. So best guess would be around 825 lbs, + or -.

I would guess the same. Sounds light though doesn't it? Can't argue with the math though

Also, depends on if there is water in the barrel, from rain and such. (as regards total weight.)

Recently saw a 55 gallon barrel about 1/3 full of ingots. It weighed about 650 #'s. So I would say 1/2 barrel would push 1/2 ton.
