Lately I've been looking at getting one of the NOE 311-180FN "K31" molds, unsurprisingly enough, for a K31. On the NOE site it also says the following "...this bullet is great in almost all 30 calibers.". It makes me wonder, has anyone tried this in say 30-06 or 308 and gotten decent results? I couldn't find any real information on the topic. Looking at the drawing, the nose diameter is .296" which seems a tad small for a rifle with a bore between .300"-.302" even if the base is big enough. Or is this really not a problem?

I haven't tried that one...but I LOVE my NOE 311-198sp-gc!!!
It's shoots GREAT in blackouts (with 1-in-7 twist), and a couple .308 semi's I've tried it in.

OP, If NOE makes a copy of Saeco #315, give some thought to purchasing it as it was the most accurate CB in my K-31's and .30-30 Marlin #336. #315 is a ~175gr., truncated cone, tapered Loverin gas checked design. Btw, it is really accurate in my M-39 Finn Nagant and .30-06 as well.

Good info!

the 31's do have tighter bores/grooves but they will still take a normal cast boolit.
NOE molds usually run about .002 over size.
which should bring that nose diameter up to 298-299 which is a slip fit in the 31 barrels.

anyway in my 31's I use the same boolit I use in my 308 bolt guns and a couple of others too which is the rcbs 30-165 silhouette boolit.

I'll have to take a closer look at tht saeco315 and 30-165. I've been using the lee 312-155 and its functions fine, it just doesn't shoot all that well. Was hoping to find something heavier that would still chamber.

with the short case neck you kind of have to go with the silhouette type molds.
in the 98-11 the boy shoots I use the magma engineering 165gr rnfp which is a shortened version of the 311041 but in a plain base.
I seat it out a bit and let the boolit seat it deeper when the round is chambered on top of some unique, it is surprisingly accurate.

Butchman, You're most welcome! Btw, 12.0gr. Unique, 21 - 22gr. 5744, 24r. IMR 4198 work very well with #315.

OP & Butchman, If you can locate a multi cavity, i.e., >2 cav. #315, do so and consider having the GC shank removed on at least one of them. That way you can use 8.5 - 9.0gr. Unique or 9.0 - 10gr. Blue Dot for inexpensive and accurate shooting.
