What groves do you lube? Do you lube just the bottom. Bottom and second or bottom 3?

just the bottom 1.
I tried all, the middle, the bottom 2, three different lubes, and just the top one.
I also tried different viscosity's of lube.
the bottom one only proved best [for me] with a medium viscosity lube.

Use it. Who's to stop you? It is not rocket science. Otherwise, if you have a specific question, ask it.

Bottom one only produced smaller groups, as has been reported by many others. The only time I lube more than one is if I plan on really stepping on the gas and shooting hot loads, something I don't normally do with WCs.

RFR has the straight of this, bottom groove only shoots best but the target is the ultimate answering machine for this problem, LOL!

When load devlopement for my Model 52 I found out the bottom lube groove and hollow base wadcutter would produce a 1 hole group all day long if I could do my part.

I was not really wanting to powder coat it or tumble lube. I got my answer from others. Thanks

He did.

My first attempt with wadcutters, I lubed all three. I was disappointed, they weren't bad, they just weren't great. My next batch will be bottom only.

I believe there was some research done that suggested just loobing the bottom groove.

When I shot Bullseye, most of us with Stars only lubed the bottom groove on low velocity wadcutters. It was the most accurate at 50 yards (tested with a Ransom Rest with both the Clarks and S&W M52) As a side benefit, you get a lot of bullets with one fill of lube. We used the old 50/50 lube. Other lubes may yield different results

As stated above, your target will answer your question. Load 50 with one groove and 50 with two. If the bullets with two grooves lubed do better, then try three...if not one groove is it.

If there's a lube groove on the bullet I fill it with lube.
I'm using SPG for most every handgun bullet now.

Hmm, ain't heard of an FWC (Free Weight Charging? Friendly Wallaby Critter? Frontal Wilson Crimp?) . Does that stand for full wad cutter?

The 38 full wadcutter is one of the very few boolits that I do tumble lube. I have the Lee 6 cavity 38-148WC (not TL). I size to 358 in a push through sizer, and use regular LLA. Another couple boolits I do this with is the Lee 105 SWC, and the TL 314-90 boolit sized .311 for the 30-30. Every thing else gets conventional lube, mostly BAC.

Bottom one only with a light tumble, proved best in two different guns. S&W model 15 and a Colt 357. Bottom two if I'm pushing them past 750 or so.

I bought the Lee tumble lube wad cutter mold, so I just give them a dose of 45/45/10, run them thru the .358 push thru and give them a second coat of lube.

There is a great thread in the pistol section where a member talks about shooting 75,000 wadcutters. He tumble lubed. I like to tumble lube my wad cutters as well and I use uncut LLA.

Some projectiles just tend to like tumble lube better than others. I have lrn that love tumble lube, and swc that like hard lube, same 357 revolver. Just depends. Answer will be on the target.

I am a noob and tried all grooves and accuracy was terrible until trying bottom one only. Then I switched to PC and tumble.
