This question going to be a old one and there will be 1000 answers. I am needing a 9mm mag for a 1911 that I just built. The problem is my rounds are nose diving. This is on second and third round in the mag. The only mag I have at this time is a 38 Super mag and its a MecGar. Thanks everyone.

I recommend the new Wilson Combat EMT 10 round 9mm mags.

I tried both the Chip McCormack 10 round mags and the Wilson EMT 10 round mags. My preference is the Wilson mags. They seem to feed better in my Springfield Range Officer.

I recommend the Metalform magazines available from Brownell's. When I have a 1911 brought to me that has feed issues, I test fire it with Metalform mags. If the function issues are still present when firing with a Metalform mag, I know to look at the pistol's construction or ammo to find the cause. Works for me.

Could you give the Part# for those mags.

I made up a 9mm conversion kit for a 1911 about twenty five years ago and bought the cheapest 9mm mags that I could find, no idea what brand they were, probably from Brownell's or Midway. The 9mm mags have a filler block for want of a better word, at the rear of the magazine.

I never had any problems with nose diving while feeding.

You have two choices: one, buy real 9mm magazines, or two, load very long cartridges.

The Wilson 10rd mags get my vote. Worked well in my STI Trojan

+1 for the metal form 9mm mags.
Work great in my 9mm 1911.
Also have one colt 9mm mag, also good.
They all have the rib in the back to keep the round up front.

Like others, I HIGHLY recommend Wilson Combat. IMHO, they are the best on the market.

IIRC the mags that had the spacer at the rear were from Springfield Armory.

I use the Wilson Combat 9mm mags in my Range Officer. The stock Springfield mags stay in the factory box.

Metalforms or dawsons. The Wilson combats I have experience with have a shorter body and are harder to seat quickly.

Same deal with the chips.

the mec gar 9mm mags are good mags. They worked just fine in my sti Trojan as did metalform. I suggest you buy a follower for a metal form or Wilson mag. THe shape of the follower might be enough to tip your bullets up a bit.

I had a Colt Defender in 9mm. Basicly a compact/officers sized 1911.

I searched the webs for magazines and their reviews. Found out this:
1) the 9mm mags are expensive compared to the 45 magazines. So not much difference between range/cheap mags I got from Meatalforms (which I use for all 1911s) and carry quality Wilsons.
2) I don't think I got a bad one in 9mm! Damn prices were around $25 each, but they work.
3) I am under the impression that the 9mm mags were just 38 Super mags with a spacer in it.
4) almost all kept the nose of then bullet level. But I never had a FTF due to it.
