I have two H&G 4 cavity molds, #68 & #130, that I am thinking of selling. Both are new, unused and in the original boxes. I purchased them but never used them. They were made in Murphy Oregon to produce a minimum .452" with BHN 14 alloy (93/5/2). Both are plane base with handles.

Does anyone have a clue what they might be worth today?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

You see them on EBay for $200 or more.

The prices can be all over the place. Sometimes you can find them for around $100 in good condition, other times people people will try and sell them for $400. It all depends on how desperate you are. $100 and they will sell in a day, price them at $300/$400 and they will sit for months.

If you want to sell them in a day let me know...

Thanks but there is absolutely NO desperation here but I'm not greedy either.

Thanks for the input.

My guess is the No. 68 will probably go for $200 to 250. The 130 is less popular and I would suspect $200. But the market is the market.

I have not been following the H&G market closely but I do believe it has softened some. I am not sure if is the economy or the ready availably of custom molds. Something on ebay they go for almost unbelievable prices. H&G are great molds but the are not any better than NOE, Mihec or Accurate molds

Start with comparing the prices to the above molds than add what you believe the H&G name is worth.

I am interested in both depending on price.

It's hard to say on value. Most I would pay would be $275 for the pair shipped. My number is low compared to what others might pay, but more than that and I would just go to one of our current custom mould makers. H&G's are great moulds, but to me they were worth more to me several years back when the custom makers weren't that well known or were just starting out.

Buying a H&G mould 5-10 years ago was buying a guarantee that you were getting a quality, good casting mould, that cast at the diameter they were supposed to. Nowadays, you can get that from any number of makers, in different materials, for cheaper.

The best molds I have run into, old or new are Magma molds...

I wouldn't let them go for less than $200 each and feel the #68 might garner a bit more. They are cast iron, with IMHO the best sprue plate made and include handles. While the cavities are not magical compared to what is available from current manufacturers, I still find the mold blocks and sprue plate to be superior to aluminum and brass molds offered by custom makers today.

If you want to sell them in half a day, let me know.
