by any chance would anybody near wichita kansas have a camper I could rent over thanksgiving. my wifes family is having a big get together and there is no room for me and my wife to sleep in the house so I was thinking about setting up a camper in the back yard for us, don't need a toilet or stove, just a heater and a bed. I know we could get a hotel room but my wife really wants to be close. small pop up would work or a bumper pull, have a fith wheel hitch in my truck but its the farm kind and not the rv kind. tried the local rv dealer and they want twice the rate of a hotel.

Sorry not near there. A cargo trailer is not bad if you can toss in a electric space heater. also done it with a truck cap topper. place some polystyrene blue board down then build up a mattress on that it is rather cozy.

Stayed in a cargo trailer several times camping out. Like was said small ele. heater, if need be,
most were for just sleeping. I don't know about your wife but if it is cold out she might not want to trek to the house for bathroom runs. Most were 6 x 10 plenty of room for 2.

Sorry I can't help as we are too far away.

Your idea sounds familiar. This summer we had the three sons, their wives and kids, and two sets of the kids "In-Laws" all at the Kalispell house for a week this year. The wife and I moved into our 5th Wheel Travel Trailer for the week as we are early risers (5:30 or 6:00 AM) each day. All the Kids were trying to convince us to let them stay in the trailer instead of the wife and I (they seemed to think the trailer would be an inconvenience for us); well everyone had a great week and I was able to have a few cups of coffee each morning quietly reading the paper or... In the evening I was able to go to bed and allow the rest of the extended Clan to continue on (late riser/late for retiring the day).

I like your solution; we will be doing the same again in out-years.

thanks wilco but already looked into all the rental places and the cheapest was 100 bucks a night, thats just to much, cheaper to stay at a hotel by half. just hoping somebody might have one a little more reasonable that we could use for a week.
