I have a stainless Ruger Flattop coming in 45 Colt/45 ACP. Looking for grip suggestions. Something different. Something like stag horn or giraffe bone or something a bit more exotic. Perhaps a dark/black wood.

Did you check out Altamont? They've got some snazzy wood. My preference is usually Pachmayer, but I suppose that's not the direction you wanna go.:)

love it. A nice natural coloring with slight tan overtones. Not plastic "simulated ivory"

I much prefer beautiful wood. It is what tickles your fancy. But my guns kick too much so I use rubber. I hate the SBH guard. The round one leaves more options.

I have two of those flat tops.

My blued 44 Special has stag grips made by Sack Peterson. He has a website with pricing. However, he often sells grips on e-bay for less than he charges ff you special order them. I like these grips. They are classic and fitting for a blued revolver.

My 45 stainless steel has maple burl grips from Private's Custom Grips. I like them very much and the price was right. It did take a while before I got them though. He does list some "available" grips that I assume would ship immediately. If you want to order them he has a little over a dozen wood types to select from.

Both sets of grips are slightly thicker than the stock grips or even grips made by Hogue that I have on a couple other Rugers. The Hogues are very nice, just a little thinner.

You might take a look on the Hogue site for different material grips as well as different sizes.Robert

These are Hogue ebony grips. These are about the same thickness as the stock grips. The ebony compliments the stainless in my opinion.
