just Bought some bullets 100 225 LSWC HP 45 Cal (mic'd at .452) and 100 215 lswc 45 Cal (mic'd at .452) made by Taurus Bullet Company anyone know where to find Load info on these... I used the info on Hodgdon's sight to load 230 grain lead is this going to cause a problem?

Ahh

On Edit I loaded 50 up for 45ACP in LSWC HP using Hodgdon Universal Powder

Welcome ahhbach! :drinks:

Using load data for a slightly heavier bullet shouldn't cause any problems, provided you start at the recommended starting load and work up from there. IIRC, Taurus brand bullets are long gone...not made anyway. I remember seeing a post where someone got some his dad had...and they were very soft, nearly pure lead. If that is the case with your bullets, you might want to keep your loads at the low end to keep from leading your bore too much.

I've never tried Universal powder, but its name kinda says it all...works well in a variety of applications, like Alliant Unique does.

Hope that helps...and good luck with your loads.

I still have a partial box of Taurus 32 cal WC. Pretty soft, not much to write home about in my guns. I believe the Lyman manual and some of the powder company websites list the heavier 45ACP loads. 45 Auto Rim loads work too. 45 American or Schofield loads may also work, but check that before you load a bunch up.

The 230 gr data should be a good start.

What do you want the loads to do? You've got about enough of each to work-up loads if you're planning on getting more.

If you just want a load to shoot (like for an action pistol match) the mid range loads for 230 gr cast should do what you need.

first real foray into 45ACP reloads. I got them REAL cheap 3.99/box 100. No more on the shelves. The Bullets do appear to be lubed.

Just bought the 45 (PT1911) am still running rounds though it. will probably end up mainly target though.

You might check the Hornady and Speer loading manuals. They manufacture swaged (soft) lead bullets, and their data might be more appropriate to your bullets.
