I was out hunting the other day and stopped at a little tiny town that had a little small Mobile trailer grocery store that also sold hunting licenses. The goal was going to pick up my supplemental Whitetail doe tags, and head back out hunting.

After purchasing my tags the fellow behind the counter mentioned that he sells used guns as well. He took us to the end of the trailer and showed us a nice collection of rifles for sale. He pulled out this Browning B78 in 22-250 Remington, and it was gorgeous! I looked it over closely, and the bore looked in very clean condition. The rifle had a presentation case, and a 24 power BSA platinum scope on it (not the best match, but fine). We haggled on our selling agreement, and I went home with the rifle! A great deal to boot!

So I Thought I would share some pictures with you guys. I know it isn't much of a cast boolit type of rifle, but I was thinking you would enjoy seeing a well built single shot rifle.

Upon getting home, I cleaned the bore and inspected the rifling even closer. The bore looked nearly new! BONUS! I remounted a Leupold 4-12 VXII to do some load development (it is a known and proven scope).

This is the first group at 100 yards while fire forming cases. Very happy with this start! All the load information is labeled on the target, if anyone is interested.

Take that BSA scope and finish driving those nails in that project your wife wants done. It could be why that rifle was sold...... Just Saying..

lol! Thanks for the advice CLAYPOOL. That scope was removed the moment I got home. If you look at the second and third pictures, you will see the scope has been changed. I installed a good-proven, Leupold 4-12 scope for temporary load development.

This rifle scope will be replaced with a Leupold 6.5-20 VXIII at a later date.

Nice grab ! !

I much preferred my early B-78's with the tapered 26" octagon barrel to the later Model 1885's & newer B-78 (24" bbl) straight octagon barrels.

They're great handling rifles, and bootiful too !

I liked them so much that, back when they were 1st introduced, I obtained a B-78 Field Service Manual & altered a small common screwdriver blade, so I could adjust the triggers on my .30-06 & 6mm Remington (the little circular piece on the action bottom near the trigger is the adjustment screw).

Here's a link to my post here that displays the B-78 Field Service Manual: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?239844-Field-Service-Manual-Browning-B-78-Single-Shot-Rifle
