A couple weeks back a friend and I took my 2 flinters to the range and just shot the living hell out of them. I was videoing and so I used my editor to slow down the videos and took screen shots of the cool frames of the pan powder lighting off from the beginning to the end :Fire:

Very cool. I'm starting to get an itch for a muzzle loader, flint or cap haven't decided yet, and things like this don't help.

Very cool! I have wanted a nice 32cal squirrel rifle for a while, just haven't managed to make it a reality.

@ rfd post #4 - Good example of why southpaws shouldn't be shootin right handed flinters and cap locks.

Nice videos of the flinchlocks. I'm on my way into the woods right now to play with Mr. Squirrel. This is my little .32 with its 40" barrel. If I see a squirrel head sitting still at 40 yards, I can usually add some meat to the Brunswick Stew.

It's best to start out with a caplock if you are new to this sport. Nothing against flint but it takes a little more knowledge to us a flintlock than a caplock. When things don't go bang with the flint, you need to know what to do to correct it. It is also helpful to find someone who already shoot flint to help you out.

Great photos! Nothing like a good flintlock! Photos also are a good reminder to those who are new to them to not let anyone stand to your side in line with your vent. That "jet streqM" shooting out of the vent upon ignition of the main charge can cause some serious burns/injury and it only takes once to learn that lesson. :-)

Had my brother standing next to me on one shot. He sure in hell jumped back in a hurry rubbing his arm. You WILL get blasted!

The smoke and fire is a big part of the wonderful world of flintlocks.

If somebody's touch hole is a bit too generous, you can get a good amount of fire and gas heading to the guy to your right. It is a good idea to spread out more. Mine don't throw near that much, but I still watch out for the other guys.
