Hello friends its been a bit since I have been on here ...3 years actually wow! ...life get interesting sometimes.
I have purchased a new .40 cal S&W M&P pistol and I would like some recommendations on molds for cast bullets that work well in it, I am hopeful that some of you have experience in loading for this firearm and I can save a few dollars starting in the right direction from the get go!
I should add that I will be using this for paper punching only as I am in Canada ...booo! ...unless I am lucky enough to make it to the USA for feral hogs and might take it as a back up gun.
Thanks for your time Jonathan

I have a S&W Shield in .40, and have had very good functioning and accuracy using the LEE 175 TC with the standard lube groove. I de-bevel based my mold, but other than not having lube on the base, didn't notice much difference. Have fun :)

dubber123 , thanks so much I was actually looking at that very mold and was thinking that I may be able to get away with the lee Alox lube on it?

I've used the NOE 180gr mold in my M&P and it works quite well.

I use both the LEE 145 and the LEE 175 SWC and I like them both.

I'll second the lee 175 tc. Worked good in everything that I have tried it in. Had to play with the col on occasion. My standard is 1.125, but I had to shorten it to 1.110 for my smith.

Another thumbs up for the Lee 175 TC, my full size M&P40 loves them.

Same experience, worked great in my glock and sig but had to shorten for the smith.

I had a 6 cavity Lee 40 cal mold that dropped beautiful UNDERSIZED bullets. Tremendous leading problems, and Lee just yawned. Make sure you get one that drops .402/.403 dia bullets to resize and lube. I would up buying .402 diameter bullets from Dardas and they still lead in my shield.

I have had good luck with the Lyman 401638 175 gr TC bullet in my M&P 40cal both in the FS and Pro. I size them .401.

Take Care

yup if your only going to have one .40 mold a six cavity lee 175tn is hard to beat. Shoots well in about every 40 Ive ever tried it in and you get a 6 cav mold for the price of most 2 cavity molds.

another vote for the lee 175 gr swc here, I have the 6 cav tl version and shoot them powder coated from a springfield xd tactical . they shot well out of the Taurus pt140 I used to own also . ive had the best luck with them so far using 5.6 gr of herco .

yep lee 175 gr worked fine in mine also. I also have an NOE RN 160gr design that runs like a champ.
