You'll probably do much better with black powder. But ask over at

There are alot of Snider guys there.

..............I don't know about 777, but using the real stuff will for give you the full entertainment value with the flame, smoke, and smell :-).

If it were me I'd load about 70 grs in the case, add 4-5 cardwads and then a half inch of some stiff ho-made lube to cap it off. Point ONLY overhead as the wads and the wax will be a dangerous projectile for some distance to maybe 50 yards.

Yes BP is the way to go, you don't need the weight in front of it to go bang as you do with white powder.

The original blank cartridge was 82 gns + 2 gns, later reduced to 70 gns + 2gns so Buckshot is on the money for authenticity.

70gns by volume or weight?

70gns by volume or weight?

Either one will work for black powder. In 2F probably be exactly the same. I wouldn't use good powder for blanks, just buy the cheapest thing you can find. Around here that is Lidu, 5 or 6 bucks a pound.

Your 777 might not work too well; it needs more compression than the holy black, might get a "bloop".. give us an after action report.
