Been trying to reach Mr Hoyt for awhile now to no avail? I have had ZERO luck finding a fast twist 54 Cal barrel for a renegade, would love to find a Green Mountain LRH in 54 Cal. But since i have had no luck finding one i am leaning toward having a 50 re bored to 54 and a fast twist. I have had a few people mention Mr Hoyt for such project. Anyone here know how to get ahold of him?

I just a got barrel back from him maybe a month ago. Its hunting season so maybe he's out in the field. Any ways the # I have is 717-642 6696. address of 2379 Mt Hope Rd Fairfield Pa 17320. He did a 50 cal TC new englander to .52 1-36 twist. I think it was $118 about a 2 month turn around on mine. I had to call several times. I finally scored at around lunch time east coast time.

I have read that he is rather hard to get ahold of. Working with machinery running is suppose so. He needs an email address!

With N-SSA Nationals last week and game fields calling, all I can say is, keep trying.

I've never personally sent a barrel to him but I own one now bored to 20ga and have owned two others in the past & his work is as excellent as everyone will tell you it is.

I tried to reach him all last week, every few hours. The phone just kept ringing. Finally, yesterday (Friday), I got his answering machine. His message said that, due to telemarketers, he will not answer the phone, but leave a message and he'll call back, which I did. I expect that he will call back next week.
He relined a barrel for me awhile back, and he goes great work at a great price.

I was told at the Nationals that his father in law is very ill. He went back to PA a day early. He does great work. I dropped off an Erma Gallagher carbine to him while I was there for a reline job.

Keep trying Bobby is worth the wait he was at Ft. Shenandoah most of last week for the fall N-SSA nationals. I've got a .40 caliber long rifle barrel he made in an old dixie gun works Tenn squirel rifle and WOW does it shoot.

Well, call me backwards and unobservant but I've never heard of Mr. Hoyt or his work and sounds like he is someone worth knowing. I have a sort of half-breed (plains rifle/english sporting rifle) that I'd love to have smoothbore barrel for. Already have a .54, .50 & .40 barrels. A smoothie would just finish that out nice.

varsity07840 - what caliber did he reline the Erma Gallagher in? I have one still in .54.
I will definitely keep trying to reach him.

He didn't do it yet as l only gave it to him last week. But, it will be relined to .50 cal, using the Smith/Maynard .515. Some guys have the chamber reworked to use Smith tubes which are fatter
than the Gallaghers, but Bob suggested leaving the chamber as is. The .515 fits well inside the
Galalagher case. I currently have six guns that he has done barrel work on and all shoot very well. He even relined an 1816 smoothbore, known for being very thin at the muzzle.

What twist and what bullet are you thinking for your 54cal? I just picked up a new condition Knight MK85 in 54 cal. I think that one is a 1-28.
