One of our members is in need of prayer. He is not doing too well with late stage bladder cancer and seems to be getting a little down.

All of the prayers that everyone can find the time to send his and his families way would be much appreciated and demonstrate that no matter what is happening he has friends here who care about him and have him in their thoughts during this trying time.

Huge thank you to everyone !!! At this point, I need all the help that I can get. Coming off of the 2nd chemo because I could not tolerate it and will be going on a newly FDA approved therapy for my specific type of cancer, Tecentriq. This is actually an immunotherapy vs chemotherapy so I hope that I can easily tolerate the treatments.

There are so many cancer treatments in development. It has taken us a long time to get to this point. I'm praying it really works for you. Cancer isn't always the death sentence it used to be, and some battle it for 15 years, like my cousin. Keep your spirits up. I believe it makes a significant difference in the healing process. I've seen it work that way too many times. Folks like you are real heroes, I believe. You demonstrate how real men, in the full meaning of the word, handle things like this. Keep up the great work, and we'll certainly be keeping up our prayers for you.

Praying for bonz.

When I was 55 or so, I was diagnosed with the same cancer, I was sent to a urologist who took the time to find out what he was dealing with, that took several months in itself. I made a promise to myself that instead of being the stubborn rock-head I always was, I would be a model patient and do everything they ask and even be pleasant about it. A tumor was found inside the bladder about the size of a golf ball and surgery options explained, I told the man to do what he had to and left it in the Lord's hands. The next month I reported for surgery hoping I might be home the same day! (nah, that didn't happen) Before surgery the Dr. visited me, ask if I was aware what he was going to do, I said, "Yeah, yer gonna drive a '48 Buick up through there, bash into this thing, back up and hit it again until you have it in pieces, pack it in the trunk and back out." He says, "Good analogy. See you in an hour or so."

His hour turned into three, and I would be the guest of the hospital overnight at least. Came time to unhook me the next day the nurse pulled everything out and off except the tube going up to the bladder, she looked worried. I ask he why the worried look, "This is probably going to hurt." she says. "Okay" I say, "You pull it out while I talk to keep my mind off it." A few seconds later she's smiling and I ask if she took it out, she laughs and nods that she had. I get a look at this tube, 3/8" diameter!..and yeah, it as well as everything was done "up through the penis". A couple hours later I was on my way home.

They since use lasers and even better treatments. I go in for check ups, no worries, it hasn't come back. I did have a round of chemo after surgery and there was a bit left. The second treatment was organic and got it all.

Bladder cancer does not spread beyond the bladder. Treatment can be uncomfortable, but not what I would call painful. The biopsy is the worst part as they usually take a sample of the prostrate while they're at it. It's not an overnight cure, it'll take maybe a year and a half until you're free of it, but it didn't even interrupt my daily routine much. It can be scary at first, but looking back on it, it wasn't that bad and was relatively easy to deal with. Not a death sentence by a long shot!

Bonz, if you read this, please know that a lot of very good guys, who I think stand in good stead with the Lord, are praying for you, and for many others here who are in need of prayer, and God's wonderful Grace and Mercy. God be with you in this new year, and keep the faith, and keep fighting. Cancer of your type is serious, of course, but it's not the death sentence it used to be, and more and more studies are coming closer and closer to finding a cure, and many new treatments are out there to bring you hope and faith and trust that you've got an awfully good chance of beating this thing.

And God never gives us a "problem" without there being some purpose in it all. Never! So take up your Bible, and seek out the additional faith and trust and hope you'll need to beat this thing, with the Lord's help and good grace. You're FAR from done with this thing yet! FAR from done! Fight the good fight.

My cousin had it for 13 years, and his was one of the more virulent kind. He made it his life's mission to learn all he could about it, and seek out the best info from the best and most well-studied sources he could find, on the internet and locally and wherever, and instead of going quickly, like his docs told him originallly, he had 13 more years with his wife and son and friends and extended family. He was USAF, and boy! Did he ever fight his cancer valiantly and tenaciously. And remember what Winston Churchill said in WWII to the English people at their darkest moment: "Never give up! Never, never, never, never, never, never EVER give up!"

Sometimes, when we pray for courage, God gives us something like this that we might LEARN courage, really. And He ALWAYS knows what we really want and need SO much better than we do! Keep the faith brother! A lot of very good folks are praying and pulling for you!
