Ok so I've listened to my Wanderings of an elephant hunter 6cd set by WMD Bell about 6 times now. It's a great story with some great info and opinion. Any way he references a country somewhere in the Laka territory of (spelled wrong in sure) Booba Ray. With its leader Booba Gheeta his would have been around turn of century but I cannot find any historical reference to its existence at all other than what's in the story. Can anyone point me towards a wiki page or something ? Thanks much Shawn

Try looking up W. D. M. Bell instead. Karamoja Bell was another name

Ive looked all over for any other reference to Booba Ray and can find nothing other than a short part in this book. Does anyone know anything or have you ever seen it mentioned? Would likely be somewhere near Liberia on the continent. At least he implied he walked there from Liberia

Shawn, I think you would really enjoy John Taylor's book, African Rifles & Cartridges. He spent thirty years poaching ivory and the stories of his adventures make great reading.

Maybe try contacting Craig Boddington. He should know.
