I'm looking for some opinions as to the realistic value of some revolvers that a club member has. Most of these are custom orders and as such are not in the 'blue book'. I realize that value may fluctuate by area and condition, but from all appearances only one of these has even been fired! All have the factory boxes also.

#1 Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 Mag. w/ported 10.5" bbl., serial #83-31xxx
The cylinder does have slight drag marks
178635178634
#2 S&W model 625-2 (1989) 5" bbl 45ACP serial #BDC0xxx
This one has been fired
178636178637
#3 S&W model 29 44 Mag. w/3" bbl., serial #ALB5xxx
I believe this to be a Lew Horton model
178638
#4 S&W model 29-3 44 Mag. w/ported 10.5" bbl., serial #ADL1xxx
178639178640
#5 Dan Wesson model 41V 41 Mag. w/10.5" bbl., serial #C002xxx
The barrel wrench is missing on this one.

Any constructive input on these will be appreciated.

I'll try on the Ruger.
It's a New Model, used, missing the original grips, and ported. The longer barrel is a bit desirable. I'd place the value at $450-$500.

I'm no help on the others,, but I see some nice guns there.

To ME, $400-450 on the SBH, $600ish on the 625, $650ish on the other 2 S&W's. The DW isn't on my list, but lots of people like them, and are willing to pay.

FWIW: Six or seven years back, I sold a DW 741 (the stainless version) with 6" and 10" barrels through GunBroker for around $750 (plus shipping). Gun was mechanically sound but had been shot for IHMSA for several years and had several THOUSAND rounds of full-house loads through it.

The 625 in my area would be pretty handy to $775-$850 range from what I've seen and purchased in the last couple years. Nice collection of goodies BTW.

I believe the DW would push $1000 on Gunbroker. Wrenches are available. http://ewkarms.com/zen8/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=67_5

I'd like to thank everyone for their input.

This member doesn't shoot anything but .22's now due to medical issues, so a couple of us are trying to help him out and try to insure that he doesn't get ripped off. Supposedly he has several more but as of yet none of us knows what they might be.

I work one gunshow per year, in Sept. I always look over what the vendors are offering for prices on S&W revolvers. I'm not sure if it's my area? or if they have taken a price jump in the last couple years? But I couldn't find any pricing in the range mentioned above, which I could have easily found 2 years ago at the same show.
Now I didn't see any of the high priced used guns sell, but going by the prices I seen, I've consider #2 and #4 worth close to 800 and the Lew Horton close to 1000.
I seen a minty Ruger BH 357mag sell at the table next to mine for $500 (to another vendor)...that was the weird thing about that show, most of my sales were to other table vendors, we do have a lot of private sale vendors though.

I'll take a stab at the S&Ws. The pre-lock in the box 625 is worth at least $750 compared to what actually sells on gunbroker. The 5" models seem to be the least desirable, but still a pre-lock 625 is a $750 gun to maybe $900 at the high end.

The 3" Lew Horton is worth a small fortune. I have seen these sell for $1500 at the low end, some over $2000.

Not sure about 10.5" 29. In general long barreled-3s are not as desirable as short ones, or the pinned and recessed-2 or earlier variants. However, your particular gun looks like some silhouette models I have seen. Some of the early silhouette models had mechanical issues. If that is a factory silhouette model that has the "endurance" package it is probably worth north of $1000.

I saw this member again today at the range. He had a S&W model 610(?) 6" bbl. in 10mm. This one has been fired and I didn't see a box.
Hard to make out the model # with these bi-focals.

looks like I should have held on to my lew horton. Sold it and another one foolishly. A 3 inch 610. I know they bring big money now too.

I make three or four shows a year and have witnessed a steady upward creep in the price of S&W revolvers. There seem to be be two factors at work, a mild resurgence of interest in revolvers as the "tactical" fad begins to erode and a distaste for the modern "Hilary Hole" revolvers. I bought an 8 3/8 inch M-29-2 about three years back for 600 in the box, I haven't seen one for less than 700 since and they generally run 750 or more, without the case.
Those Lew Hortons are particularly sought after and will easily run at or near a grand, though why I can not say. I shot three rounds through one and that was enough for me. I was cured of any desire to own a snubby 44 mag.

Keeping a little mad money aside is a good idea if at all possible, and making it known you are into buying guns is a good rumor to spread amongst the local gun crowd. I had a fellow pull into my yard yesterday and offer me a nice 629-4, 8-3/8" with 2 holsters, 2 sets of grips and 2 speedloaders for $600. I don't really have a woody for it, but the price is right in this market, and I will pick it up tomorrow. Deals are out there, make yourself known.

Gun prices can be all over the place, question is, how much is he asking for them and how much are you willing to pay.
