So in the past I've had issues with grains of powder being left in my bores. This is mostly with handgun loads that were lighter end loads bit here recently my 35 Rem. loads. I have a new RCBS 35-200 coming today and I plan to have some loads ready to test for the weekend and am looking for advice on getting a clean burn. I have on hand H335, IMR3031, H4227 and I'm going to my supplier tomorrow if I should pick something else up to try.

Is the 35-200 heavier than what you normally shoot? That alone might improve your burn.

Yep I've been loading 358156 over about 33 grains of 3031

Every powder has a sweet spot for combustion with complete burning and uniform pressures and velocities. It's all dependent on case capacity, bore diameter and boolit weight and fit.

I've found the IMR single base stick powders to be the most amenable and flexible as far as finding that favored spot. If you can find it anymore, ask your supplier if has or can get you SR 4759. It's a double base stick powder that is just perfect for what you are wanting to do with the new RCBS boolit. Sadly, it was discontinued last year, but you can duplicate it fairly well with IMR 4198 as far as burn speed and velocity per charge goes.

By the way, I bought that RCBS 200 grain 35 calibre mould in the early 80s for a 358 Winchester and it is a very good design. I currently use it in the 35 Whelen. If I had a 35 Remington, it surely would get the nod for that round too. Good luck!

IMR 4064 is supposed to be a great powder for 35 Rem.

"Clean burn" has a lot to do with pressures and the 35's is low.

I would suggest ballistic uniformity and accuracy are a lot more important than "clean burning." Relegate this concern to the fifth tier status it deserves.

Handgun weight bullet loads in .35 rifles can get more uniform velocities and more complete burns with firm crimps.

Your new 200 will likely fix it, too.
