Do you guys think this might work for casting lead pseudo-ingots? I bought a couple for Christmas presents for some female friends of mine.

Yes, definitely. I use a similar one. I only fill it up about half way. That way the ingots easily fit in the boolit casting pot.

Absolutely! I bought 5 of them on a closeout sale at a Cabela's factory store in Nebraska on our way to Yellowstone about 10 years ago. I was still collecting WW then and almost all of my stash is from those pans. I filled mine about ¾ full. They still fit the pot.

I hate to tell you this but I only paid $5-$6 dollars each for mine.

They are nice looking if they are cast iron they will tend to hold the heat. I went to thrift store and garage sales paid between $1.50 and 25 cents for sheet metal ones. Wal-Mart has suitable ones also but I would note moving a 12 muffin tin is a little challenging, especially if the pan is not heavy duty and tries to bend from the weight... 6 muffin weigh less when filled and seem easier to work with in my opinion. Like tipping to flip finished ingots, or moving aside as they cool, or setting on damp towel to cool.

Not sure if cast iron takes damp towel rapid cooling, cast likes to crack on sharp temp changes as I recall.

They are cast iron. I had a piece of non-slip walkway material(EXAMPLE: http://shop.fsindustries.com/product/51415-grip-span-stair-tread/90778) that I rescued from the scrap bin at my former employer. I put together an X-frame stand and just tipped the pans over after the ingots had cooled enough to release, although still very hot. Left them on the grate to cool while I poured another round. When the next molds were ready to tip, I pushed the now semi-cooled ingots off the grate onto the ground to finish cooling. Made for a fairly efficient operation.

I've still got the muffin pans but the grating, etc is long gone. I'll have to rig something up as I just found three 5 gallon bucket of WW that I need to clean up. One full bucket is all SOWW that I had forgotten about. I was about to buy some soft lead.

They stack nicely but, as mentioned, only fill them about half full so they fit in a normal casting pot (Lee, Lyman, etc.) If you have a Waage you can fill them up all the way.
I use the cornbread mold http://cajuncastiron.com/eshop/10Expand.asp?ProductCode=10493
I store my lead in old ammo cans and they stack very nicely inside. Each weighs about 1.5 pounds too. Plus they feed into any of the casting pots that I have.

If you use the same ladle and figure out the best fill level it can help keep your ingots consistent.

I used to use a soup ladle with bent handle, eventually found a used pair of casting ladles. They all worked fine once I knew what weight they would pour when filled to a certain amount.

Thinking one of these days I might get a bottom pour ladle if I ever have money to burn. Just because it seems like it would help with making cleaner ingots. One of the bottom pours on this page. https://rotometals.com/ladles-furnaces-for-casting/

I use a 48 mini-muffin pan from Bed, Bath and Beyond, Inc. Out of my cast iron pot I get about one mini-muffin pan of ingots. These are the right size and weight for molding bullets. https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/wilton-reg-bake-more-nonstick-48-cup-mini-muffin-pan/1042872283?categoryId=12598

I use muffin pans scavenged from my wife's kitchen. Now, be, aware...you take them...you use them for LEAD...

YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THEM WITH NEW ONES...or...you axx is grass.
