Very nice, matching numbers, excellent bore. I talked my brother into it. It has a tighter leade and bore than my 48. Found my NOE 325471 fn fit and loaded with 16 grains of Alliant 2400 for him to try it out. We will bump it up to 17- 18, and see how it groups? He enjoyed ringing steel . Oh yeah, price seemed fair at $280. See if he enjoys it as much as I do mine. Flyer

.............I bought this VZ24/47 from Big 5 Sporting goods about 10 years ago for $149. I think the stock is Elm. When I bought it I think the stock came fully equipped with about a pint of excess grease/oil. I removed all the metal and then wrapped it tightly in an entire roll of paper towels. It then went inside a black plastic trash bag. This was closed with a knot, and the package was laid atop our woodpile for 3 days. Three days later upon removal all of the paper towels were drenched/dripping with oil. I did this one more time. Wiped it down well, and left it alone.

Overall it was in VG condition. The bore is clean, crisp, and considerable shine to it.

The bore slugs .314, groove .327" and the throat is .329". I use the Lee C329-205. Lube-size to .329" and then run it up through a Lee type .328" die.

What's also nice is that all the numbers match :-)

Nice score!

I have been keeping an eye on one of these at a local shop. Are they worth it? He has one that looks too good to have not be refinished. It does have some markings on the barrel near the muzzle. Very small markings about a company in VT or NH.
Guessing they must have imported and cleaned them up.
All the numbers match but the stock seems like the old numbers were sanded off and new numbers stamped in to match.

Seeing this thread reminded me of it. Sorry I don't want to hijack.

Let us know how it shoots

These started life in the 20s and 30s as m1924 rifles - first 100,000 produced by FN then by the factory they built in Yugoslavia.

Hard use through Ww2 left many in poor condition. The new communist govt if Yugoslavia refurbished most in the 40s and 50s as 24/47s

Here is one of the original FN produced rifles in original m1924 configuration- pics 1,2,4. Pics 3,5,6 are of s Yugoslavs m1924 type 2 carbine renumbered and bolt blued by the Germans during WW2

.............I also have a VZ24:

It was for sure used. However when I got it it was pretty much "As Issued". It came with a truly 'Toasted' barrel.

The stock is numbered to the action. What I did was to buy a military stepped barrel from Brownell's in .308. So now I have a solid but somewhat beat up VZ24 in 308 :-) Since the barrel is covered, just to make things simple for someone down the road I stamped the action. "308".

That looks to have been a Czech army accepted rifle. The "rampant lion" crest was scrubbed. Some of these found there way to Romania during WW2 and the communist govt of that country scrubbed the old crests during refurbishment.
