Anyone know a good source for fiber optic front sights for the Rossi round barrel carbines? Steve's Guns wants $30 + shipping, which seems ridiculous...I have a rear sight that will work, but need to find one for the front. The factory semi-buckhorn and huge brass bead are just too big for my taste.

Just figure out the height and width you need.

.

FWIW, almost every make of FO front sight blades will cost you about $15, plus $8-$10 shipping & handling (besides postage/shipping, every buyer also has to pay for parts retrieval & packaging material/labor costs - not many people work for free).

Your best hope to save $$$ would be to make the rounds of local gunshops (some stock FO sights), and/or a Cabela's, a BassPro, or a Dick's Sporting Goods, as they (and WalMart) stock FO sights both online & in some of their brick/mortar stores.

Dovetail groove size on the Rossi is not the same as the Winchester...in order for this blade to work...it would have to be fitted...

I have first hand experience with this situation.

With most products...this is included in the $15 price...not added as an additional charge.

Yea Rossi is metric vs inches. So nothing just fits.

I have never been impressed with the bare fiber optic. They break way to easy. I put a front post on a 22 dont remember it even making it to the range. I am tempted to put a fiber optic set up on my 92, but would get a hooded front ramp to protect it. A little more work than just knocking in a new front post.

Check the front sights here, they have some fitted to Rossi's. http://www.skinnersights.com/front_sights_5.html

Thanks for the replies folks, looks like I'm not the only one who has had trouble finding replacement sights for these rifles. I may try out the Skinner sight, I know they make a quality product.

try steve young or Kiowa nate jones
they both pretty much specialize in 92's of both types.

Same person, the latter name is his SASS alias.

I think perhaps the point was being made in response to a complaint about Steve's price for a FO front sight. While I agree that $29.95 is pretty high, you know it will fit - which could be an issue for those who aren't very handy with tools (or don't have the time to figure out and fit something made for another rifle).

Unfortunately, his shipping prices are also high.

Try Brownells..
They carry both Williams and Marble sites in many flavors and sizes and they are about half the price of Steve's..
At least the Marbles are...
