OK, not really my first cast boolits since I've been casting bullets for my dad for the past year and have probably done around 5k to 8k 500gr+ boolits for his BPCR competition rifles. I found it fun and relaxing.

However, this was my first attempt using my brand new pot, and brand new Lee aluminum mold. I'm used to steel molds. I was pretty happy with the results; I only did 50 using the Lee C452-300-RF double cavity mold since these will be my hardcast bear loads and wanted to save some lead for the Lee 452-255-RF mold I just ordered.

No surprises with these; little easier to get the mold temp just right than with steel, but you can't pour as nearly as fast due to it getting too hot, and of course the times for cooling and timing of pours is different than what I'm used to. Still, for i/4 of the cost of steel, I'm happy with it so far.

Have never water cooled boolits, either, since most I cast before weren't going to be used for at least a month. So that was interesting. I liked it. Far fewer burned fingers this way!

they look pretty good. not sure what that means coming from me as im just now getting into casting but they look as good as anything a friend of mine casts and hes been casting for quite a few years. ive got the lee 4-20 pot and a 6 banger aluminum mold and im liking them so far especially considering the cost compared to steel molds.

Those 452-300-RF bullets look great. I have to get that mold.

Me too. And something to shoot them out of. There goes my COWW supply. And my bank account.
