Range trip today. I had a stiff breeze blowing from left to right, so it strung my group a little. Below is my 100 yard target and 3 of my patches. The first 3 I fired between gusts and center punched it. The last 3 I wanted to see how much the wind would affect ball strike but still wasn't that bad. Two went through the same hole. I have to say I'm happy. It would have been a prettier group if the wind wasn't blowing. My load is a .530 round ball I cast, .020" patch with mink oil lube. 90gr of Olde Eynsford 3f, chrono'd with a 6 shot average of 1909fps 15' from the muzzle. It is a .54 cal Joe Williams barrel. 1:79 twist, 36 1/2" length, 1" across the flats.

super shootin', sir! i'd say yer more than ready to make meat, if the critters will cooperate a tad. :) like yer halfstock, and 57sml tang peep, too.

Many thanks. Sometimes I think the critters are reading from a different rule book than I am.

I hope to be as good as you have demonstrated on that target. I shoot a .54 -- .53 RB, .015 pacth, 90 gr's FFg Triple Seven with a musket cap nipple replacing the standard #11 nipple. Green Mountain drop in on a T/C Pa. Hunter. One of the sweetest I've ever shot. Not unusual for me to do two in one hole (at 50). I don't have much call for any longer shots where I hunt. Good luck this season.

Thank you for the kind words. Trust me it was more luck than skill.:Fire: I usually shoot at 50yds. The longest shot I've taken on a deer in the last 20 years has only been maybe 65-70yds, and that was across a creek bottom I hunt. I'm mostly a woods hunter. I always go to the same spot, and have made meat leaning against the same tree 7 years running now. Hopefully this will be the 8th.(Knock on wood) However, I just recently had the barrel made this spring and wanted to see what my load could do at 100yds. Good luck to you as well this season.

Very fine shooting, if you have a spot like that don't tell a soul, I learned that the hard way!
