Howdy folks, I have this new englander with a very odd hammer and I can not seem to find any info on it.
Can anyone tell me anything about this hammer, I really like it because it makes it easier to use being a south paw and all

I forget the maker's name but, it is an aftermarket hammer that was available for a while to make cockin' the gun easier.

Like Bubba says, it was aftermarket, to clear a scope! Works great, but kinda ugly, no insult intended.

why that there is one o them side hammer cocky gizmos so's a body could put one o them new fangled telescopic sites on there rifle. (sorry to the op and no offense intended towards anyone just watched the first season of Beverly hillbillies)

No offence taken, I know it's ugly but like I said it makes cocking the gun easier for a southpaw and that's why I bought the gun. I know I will not be putting a scope on this but it makes sence now.

it's the RMC EZ hammer & as the name suggests, the purpose was to make the gun easier to cock. the scope clearance aspect was just a happy coincidental side effect for those who like such things on their muzzleloaders.
