If you can find any Unique, it will work as it always did. If there is none to be found, Hodgdon Universal is a viable substitute and your old Unique data won't get you in trouble.

I didn't go looking for the info on the web, but IIRC Hercules (1912, Formerly DuPont 1907, and before that Laflin and Rand) kept a barrel from 1900 to test new batches periodically against for consistent performance. Unique was introduced by Laflin and Rand in 1900, it was chemically exactly the same as L&R's Infallible, introduced in 1898, but with a coarser granulation. Heck of a record, and joined by it's L&R stablemate Bullseye, introduced in 1898. Hercules reduced the nitroglycerin 50% in the 1960 Unique reformulation and Alliant made the powder cleaner burning in the second (2001) and last reformulation. Performance remains amazingly stable in over 100 years on the market.
